You are correct demp - I chose the 15 pairs based on their spreads from my broker at the time. So, yes, technically you could use ANY pairs as long as HAS can be placed on the chart.

Thank you, currenctly testing 28 pairs with unique settings. Will post results when I'm done.

I wonder why the EA closed all positions at around -30% instead of 25% what I did setup in its EA settings...
Mabe market was to fast.

My impression is that this system is going to work incredibly well during trends. However, a slow week will ruin most of the profits, and this is what happened this week. The only pairs with a significant trending action on D1 during the last two-three days were the CHF pairs, and they aren't included in the above explorers. I think the manual trading does stand a chance, particularly with including non-Forex markets (commodities, bonds, metals) so that one can always select 4-5 trades with good price action.

I agree.

The D1 and basketting is never really what the EA was designed for in the first place.

I am craze busy currently and will look at trading this more like a portfolio rather than a basket but on h4 or somthing of the sort but my focus is not really here as much as I would like.

This has always been TyLamai's basketting idea and we will see how he get on

Just like you, I trade it as a portfolio of 13 pairs. I have done some back-testing and I optimized each pair individually. I do use the D1 time frame now but I will be checking out the 4H time frame in the future. I have uploaded a chart with the inputs that I varied and the values that I am using on my live forward test. The rest of the inputs are the standard inputs that come with the HA_rider_07_Updated EA. After the market closes, I will give an update as to how it performed this week.

Agree with the above ...

I think there's a number of different ways this EA can be utilised ... like SmoothTrader I'm optimising each pair individually (although for me focussing on SL, TS and MA), and my intent is to not really use it as a basket EA, but more along the lines of Fezmar's thread (http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=514127) and the Millipede thread (http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=245149).

That is, I see this as a tool that will open the trade, and then letting the winners run and cutting the losers ... why cut out a winning trade because your basket has reached x%, if the profitable trades can carry on and leave you more profitable than that.

Currently I'm exploring D1, but will also investigate other TFs as time allows.

This is just one way to use a tool that I believe has a number of ways to be used. If it can consistently turn out even a small profit, I'll be happy.
1 pip at a time ... if the entries are strong, the rest will follow ...

Hello everyone

Any news from the admins about the thread not being commercial content?


I've been looking through the code and I think I've got this right but just wanted to confirm with you.
If you're using a fixed SL in pips (and no other exit options) and one of the traded pairs reach this SL, it'll only close out the pair that actually reached the SL, not all open orders?
I'm currently testing a fixed SL and equity gain % setting.

Thankful for replies.

You are correct in your assumption. It also means that at the next candle opening a new position will be entered.

Looking forward to a new week with this EA.

I've got a question about lotsizes used. Is there some other variable I haven't discovered that affects the lotsizes of the trades?
As you can see I have a multiply factor of 1 and the EA still open trades with different lotsizes, can't see any particular logic in them aswell.

Thankful for any assistance

You have the "Lot Size for 1st order in the chain" set to zero (0) so it is using the % of Balance to determine the lot size. Just put in the size of the positions you want in the "Lot size for 1st order in the chain" input and that will solve your problem.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I want a percentage of my balance as the lotsize but I don't understand why the different lotsizes of the different orders aren't the same. I just want a better understanding of the code so that I can make more relevant forward tests and help beginners posting their questions in this thread.

The way that the code was written ( as I read it since I didn't code that portion) is that when you choose your percentage, it will calculate the size of the position based on your broker's margin requirement for each pair. Since there is some variance in the margin required to open different pairs, there will be a variance in how many lots of each pair the EA will open.

For example: If you have a $10000 balance and the margin to open .01 lots of EUR/USD is $10 and the margin to open 1 lot of AUD/NZD is $8 and you set your percentage to 2% then it would open (10000/10)*.02= 20 * .01(minlot size) = .20 lots of EUR/USD & (10000/8)*.02 = 25 * .01(minlot size) = .25 lots of AUD/NZD.
