I beg to differ ..... personally I think all the rainbows, fibs, indis, this that and the other, plus the multitude of rules that have been introduced to the original thread is where the real confusion lies.

I have simply swept all that away to leave what I need and nothing else.

I appreciate that lines instead of candles could be considered a little off the wall for some if not most, and I really wonder how many actually use the candle information, because when all said and done they are no more than fractal information ie broken down into bite size chunks....the price is still the price!

Here is my trade from last night.
Eur/usd 4 hour chart, short.

I have not liquidated out yet. It's looking like
it still has potential on the downside. I'm thinking
about it & watching it.

ST2 looks like a good place to aim for.

Edit: I misunderstood you last night. I thought you were looking for a long trade.

Hi SJ

That's a decent trade you have going there. It appears according to my chart to have plenty of steam left in the tank, so I wouldn't be in any rush to bail out just yet if I were in your shoes

Once the trade get's like this...
(in profit, nice candle, good s/r, etc).
Then you have options...
I can let it ride, roll it over to the daily,
liquidate out. I like options...

Yeah that's very true...a nice place to be..but importantly don't forget an add on trade is now a very big option for you, funded by what you already have....it's worth your consideration now I think.

The Synergy pro P/T indicator just
fired off on the new candle. Which gives
me more confidence to hold on to the trade.
(Imho, it's all about confidence).

Take a look at the aud/usd 30 minute tf.
See how price is on a sell according to Dot's.
But price is stuck at the Dsr s/r level & the 200 ema.
If price can break through those levels I would be
looking to go short. But it's not ready yet.

You may end up being right, but my 30 min chart attached is suggesting to me an upturn is more likely to me. Its not a trade I'm interested in at this point though I've gotta admit...but nevertheless will be interesting to see how it pans out.

An interesting decision SJ...

My EU chart has plenty to say its got mileage left in a down move....but profits in the bank are profits in the bank anyway....there's always another day as they say

very nice trade sj I didn't see that, but it would have reduced the huge losses I took today. Althought looking it better, the tdi-mtf 1D does not confirm down movement, so perhaps I wouldn't have entered anyway.
Had to be me. Someone else might have gotten it wrong.

This is my first post, though I've been lurking here since last fall, just trying to learn a little something. I was hooked by big E's first post. It looked like he'd been reading my mail.

So far I haven't got a handle on this method, although I've been working at it pretty hard ... sure don't have 10,000 hours in yet, so maybe there's still hope. I've read most of the thread and downloaded a ton of the indicators.

SJ ... I'm a Montana boy, too. You're posts are encouraging. I started trading futures in the '70s, bought a new four wheel drive pickup with the profits, then blew through most of the rest of the account before hanging it up for many years. I did manage to quit while I was still ahead, but there was a big gaping hole in my method that I've been trying to figure out how to plug ... I was really hoping this thread was it. I was drawn to Forex because of no limits and expanded trading time. So far no cigar for me.

Question ... SJ, I've been looking at the charts at 10PM Montana time, when the new four hour candle comes up ... just trying to copy your (and Big E's) style. It really hasn't worked out very well for me. I want to know the reasoning behind your trade last night on the 4 hr EU. I looked at that pretty closely last night, and it sure didn't look like a sell signal to me ... it still doesn't, unless you look backwards in time.

What am I missing??

EJ _ H1 sold at rejection of LO high of the day, then added position on an outside bar on H1, both positions with same tp for total +90 pips

Your from Montana...that's great.

Let me explain what I was looking at. First thing is here in Montana the last
4 hour candle changes at 11:00 p.m. our time. After 11:00 p.m. I start looking
for trades & really check out the tdi, guppy's, levels, dots, s/r. I look at
everything. And kinda go hmmm...what do I think. Trading is also about
feel, price action movement, how things are setting up & how the other
time frames look.

So I'm looking at the daily, then the 4 hour & then the 1 hour charts. Looking at
everything, on all the charts. I'm trying to get warm fuzzies from what I'm seeing.
Their are very few perfect trades, where they just jump out at you. So part of my
process is I kinda have to visualize & ask myself where it could go (s/r levels) & what happens
if it doesn't. Then I try to set up my entry/exit on what could happen.

It's not a mechanical system. It's a very visual system that you need to use your
discretion with. Their is a lot more to it than a tdi cross. You need to look at other
things as well (s/r, levels, tdi, guppy's, price action, other time frames, color of apb's, the
levels of the tdi, 200 ema,dot's levels, how many apb's, pac). Once you have a really good handle on these things,
then you go from their. About a potential long or short (if you take the trade). Then stop loss,
money management, position sizing. Their really is a lot to know, plus experience.
