Is there anyway to avoid trade in the ranging market on lower timeframe such as M5 M15 H1 ?

Currently we have implemented 3 filters trying to avoid ranging periods:

 

  1. HA/HAS of Higher Time Frame
  2. Moving Average
  3. Minimum Distance between orders

So I woke up this morning and found that the EA had taken nearly 100 separate trades for like -1 pip or less. Does anyone know which input I need to adjust?

I do not know if I should climb the percentage of profit because I think it will be reached perhaps early in the next candle and so I'm off the market tomorrow, or do I close all manual before today's candle is closing so the next sailing begins all over again, what do you think AB Rooi tY?

Well, I closed everything manually before the new sail, the original purpose was 0.5% after changed to 1%, but decided fachar all to start all over again in the next candle, profit stood at 0.8% very good.
I was wondering if someone can show me some EA to close positions all at once.

Hi Abok, I thinking using RSI as the altenating indicator for spotting more violating market. For example, if we see the RSI keep influence on 1 single line without too much impact then we wait until it break the low/high of the RSI so it would be more likely to reduce our losing rates. Last night, I tested this 15 pairs annd only 3 made profit so far due to range happened in most of the currency. The rest keep getting choppy and get out cause buy candle and sell candle overlapped so many time.
The moving average won't stand in this situation because we still want to made money in the ranging market if it violate MORE then the lost will be minimize on 2 way trending. If it not too much violate or choppy then we get to do something in this particular reason
This is what I think for now

Today I used the settings of Rooi (post #93) with an Equity Loss Percentage of 50.0.

All 15 pairs opened trades, but closed when a loss of 10% was reached (Demo account about 4000 €, Loss about 400 €) ???

I tried both "original" as well as "Post #1" setting file,... both make me confused,...

The EA not working same as your "Demo Result",...

May you be kind enough to share which setting you use for the Demo ?

Hello to all. The results are really great!

I also tried your expert on my computer with the standart settings from the first post, but this night the order was opened only on eurusd pair?

Can you please share the settings you use for each pair, or may be just the key differences between them?

Also one more question have you tried optimization for each pair on previous years? May be this would be the key to get best settings?

Using HA_Rider on lower time frames can involve a High Risk, because :

  1. Spread becomes a major factor
  2. Trends don't last long enough on short time frames

I don't know about your exact settings for the Filters, but it seems that you at least the "Minimum Distance between orders" was very low, as I see there was an order on every candle, which also increases the risk.

I've seen, developed and tested many systems, and Couldn't find a Consistently Profitable System on short time frames.

As for HA_Rider my recommendation is not to use it on lower than H4 time frame.
The example I posted earlier on M5/M30 time frame was just for validating the logic and error handling in HA_Rider because I wanted to see more trades in a short time, but is not recommended at all for trading.

As for the MA used: the user can select the MA period and Method under the Filters section in the EA settings. So these values can be set differently for each pair.

I would not go for additional filters at this stage, as we are still in the early phase of forward testing.

It seems that your are using an ECN account, and you have enabled the Stop Loss, because the Yellow Dash appears only when setting the stop loss for an ECN order.
