good god im seeing lots of clowns coming out to party on this measely pathetic 300 pip stop run after ECB dropped it 500 pips in 2 days on QE announcements....
and muppets begin to think this thing turns to bullish? dear god....

Honestly, there's nothing wrong with going long; there's room to catch a few hundred pips. But it shouldn't mean you should hang your account at risk when you do so, since the momentum has, is and will be (for the next year at least) bearish.

By all means, take a long at whatever key points you believe the price will bounce; just don't make unrealistic expectations when fundamentals are overwhelmingly against you. And if you do get stopped out with a loss, please don't complain about the market.

It seems that a lot of the newcomers to this thread go long, typing away about how they believe the last of the bears are over (people have been doing this since 1.24+). And when the price drops to new lows, they then complain about how the market is working against them.

If you really want to earn a few hundred dollars to as extra spending money for this year, just take a small short (say 0.1 lots), leave it alone for a few weeks~month, and then come back and collect hundreds of pips. Don't be in such a hurry to build an account, since the biggest problem in forex is restraining your greed.

The reason why people are still shorting is because as long as your margins are plenty, shorts are guaranteed to win for now.

that last phrase... too true too true, its all about probability.
and in downtrend... probablity of lower low is higher than higher highs beign created.

Do you mean, keep your positions as small as possible? So that this does not give you worries:

Sort of. I mean, I enter markets with the willingness to lose dozens of pips potentially, but I'll admit that having a net profit of -1500+ pips is a bit disconcerting. Usually I have seen reversal after testing previous top/bottom.
Intraday only.

i work as a sales trader in an investment bank i'm located in Hong Kong.
