I don't think you understand how the EA works if you ask that question.
The EA only trades during news, which you have to enter manually.

should I insert the news Time manually in Expert or it can automatically collect the news for the expert .

Yes you have to do it manually according to the calender http://www.forexfactory.com/calendar.php

Remember to adjust the timezone so that's it's the same as your brokers.

No difference as it is triggered by ticks. So you can choose the TF you want.

Has anyone tried to convert the AmazingEA to the language of JForex for using it in Dukascopy? I did it and it said the conversion succeeded but it doesn't open the orders. Though all the real time info on the chart does work.

I was thinking about some parameters that may save one from taking too long in spikes with small moves or low deviations and these came to mind:

1) If by X secs after entry time (not after news time) BE hasn't occurred, CLOSE trade [default could be 4 secs]; and
2) If by X secs after entry time (not after news time) profit is below Y pips from entry, CLOSE trade. No matter how high the profit may have moved above Y pips, if it retraces fast below Y pips and the X secs timer expires while it's still below, CLOSE trade [default could be 4 secs and 10 pips]

NOTE:
- The 2 timers are independent of each other with enable/disable choices

Hi Guys
I am in the process of making an MT5 version of AmazingEA and I am about 50% of the way through it. It will have the same functions as the latest existing MT4 version.
This means I will also release an update for the MT4 version, because I will change the code so the two types are more aligned to make it easier to maintain both types but the functionality will be the same.

I will be reluctant to change the EA for new functions until these are settled down.

I can incorporate your ideas to automatically close after a certain amount of time, but it will have to wait. If it has an enable/disable option, people can choose whether to use or not, but it will have to wait until the MT5 version is done.

No problem Alan. It's ok since you've taken it into consideration. But to note: the timer isn't just 'Time To Live', it goes hand-in-hand with the BE function. If BE has kicked in before timer expires, then closing of the trade becomes overruled/nullified. Closure only comes to effect if no BE & timer expires.

Alan, thanks for your work!! I have a question here... I think you mentioned it but I can't find. What happens if the market gaps or if the platform freezes right at the opening of the news minute? How does AmazingEA handle this? On yesterday night's NZ employment my broker activtrades either gapped or froze (I wasn't in front of my pc) and my virtual straddle started straddling at a very wrong point causing a loss.

Hi Pupsik

Metatrader brokers have a 5 minute window (usually at 00:00 Broker Time) where they close and work out the Daily Statements. During that time orders cannot be modified or deleted and positions can't be opened or closed. Some brokers specifically say the market is closed, others become unresponsive. Others use it as a time to restart MT4.

The problem with news events at that time is that the EA can open pending orders before the top of the hour but not do anything until 5 minutes after.

Best option is find out about when your broker sends out statements and avoid news events at that time. Ring the broker and ask - it's only the price of a phone call but could save you a lot.

[Ecaterina ] no, the trading doesn't stop at 11 pm. You can trade all the time from 11pm CET Sunday untill 11pm CET Friday

Doh, OK, I assumed you'd actually get someone who knew about the ins and outs of trading Not just what it says in the manual .....

Plan B - For Midnight broker time, set up the EA with

PointsAway=5000 (or some really large number)
PointsGap=0
Lots=0.1
STWAN=30
SecBMO=-15 (i.e. negative 15)
SecBPO=30

Other parameters can be default

Watch the journal or check the logfiles to see what happens
