Indeed. I think this is just the tip of the iceberg. Brokers are in panic mode making announcement everywhere. It reminds me weeks before Lehamn collapsed and the plethora of insolvent banks were saying "we are ok" before they went all bust after...

Whatever the case, its going to be massive repercusion in FX exchange markets and I am afraid most of retail clients will pay the price of the regulation. We maybe witnessing the end of Forex trading for retail as we known (and that included forexfactory as a collateral )...

Alpari has closed all my open trades without any warning.

Am I happy that these accounts were only small ones

I doubt that forex retail will end for this... it didn't end back in '08. We shall wait and see.

Not everyone went belly up. The ones that make the market move are very well.

Forex is not going broke because of yesterday's drop.
For some it is the end, for others is just a beginning.

Yes this just dosn't smell good for me either. I can just imagin how people are getting worried now pull their money out of accounts before they get wasted to. If this turnes in to a chain reaction the outcome is not going to be fun for anybody.

Well i have been staring at eur/usd price on and off for 5 years, so i sort of invested A LOT in learning it. Fortunately, i think i invested so much time that i think what i learned is applicable to most instruments.

I guess in practice we will only know whats going to happen in a few weeks. Out of randomness or some such effect, i was at Lehman brothers office couple of weeks before they went bust. At a place where they where coding EAs or some such. The boss was looking pretty worried, talking fast on the phone. So thing is, they knew pretty well a bit in advance they where in the shitter. People on the outside DID not know that, since most people think it was an "accident" or "crysis" or some such. How can that be if people on the inside knew weeks before hand?

All im saying is, there are people who knows at least a few weeks before. "We are OK" is what Lehman said to their customers and the public, but not among themselves.

Candlestar are you being able to get back money from Alpari since they went under? I mean they are regulated, i am just wondering how process of getting back your acc money now proceeds.

Wise words indeed. This place might become a lot quieter in some weeks time. If FXCM, Alpari and the likes are in trouble (and Oanda might just have done the right thing in telling people not to worry...), a lot of smaller brokers will be as well.
I will take a break from trading for a while, time to read 'Antifragile' again. Leverage is the great leveller. Again.
