i hear people say this but i put a bs label on it. its probably something said over and over, so people just repeat what they heard and take it as fact. first the u.s. only exports a small amount compared to what it imports. so if exports and imports were =. the u.s. would actually gain. u know many companies like Walmart etc have lobbied the politicians to have us believe this fallacy. the truth is its a myth. it will become more clear with time that cheaper energy will reshape the world economy. places like china who subsidized energy will have a tough time. even with higher labor cost in the u.s. its only about 10% of the cost to build a car... most of the cost is energy (industrial manufacturing) .. then commodities.. n. america has both cheaper.... so china, and the places they buy commodities from should deflate. to stop/slow deflation, inflation is encouraged ( through currency manipulation or easing). so these and places like Australia will want some inflation to control deflation (if not, deflation with job loss is a depression) . ez too..
manufactures will follow cheap energy cost if in a stable country. the export lost revenue call easily be absorbed with domestic demand built cheaper, even cheaper then china can build products. all because of energy cost difference... we can exclude basket weaving or labor intensive products ..
btw with all the experts falling over each other trying to explain this.. (drop of oil, commodities etc) this crap was posted years ago.. part of 40 year cycle and game changer or all u.s. recessions were caused by oil spikes in the last 40 years.
