Yeah, most the technical traders do not react to news; They avoid news. The good technical traders react to price action and indicators only. Long on 1.2000 is just their ground of opportunities for picking on a pull back and hope the trend would sustain as long as possible or till the reverse signal kicks in.

Fundamental trader, and Hybrid (like me) keep eyes on both fundamental and technical options. In my option, from the technical perspective, the bear strength on the 1.2000 is running thin due to a good amount of profit-taking and the major news risk next week.

A rally above 1.2000 before FOMC is very possible, technically speaking.

I prefer to start from next week better and clearer to know how the pairs moves.

yeah, thats the reason why , 10 mins before news break you see some profit taking happening.

This applies to any instrument not just gold and oil. But what you did here is completly mispriced supply and demand, and valued oil as low on demand. What this means is your equasion has terrible results. Oil doesnt go down becouse world doesnt buy it. it goes down becouse someone opens pipes MORE than world wants it, as long as supply confirms. Has global economy since May 2014, collapsed and went to stone age, and driven demand to stone age levels? No it hasnt.
But i wont go into gold..buying argument, stating that you simply dont know what gold serves as reserve asset.
