Subscribed. Thanks all for your awesome setup contributions and educational comments on vsa, all thoroughly appreciated.

Im new to vsa and developing my strategy on the H4 and daily charts and learning from Anna Coulling and Tom William's work on VSA.

I am being swayed towards Market Profile and Auction Market Theory. I know this a vsa thread but I'd thoroughly appreciate any guiding comments on whether vsa and amt can work in synergy, especially on the higher time frames.

I thought an MP indicator on the H1 could be useful when looking for entry points on the H4 and even daily. Heh, could be wrong though!

Any thoughts would be great!

Why is Tick Volume better in the spot market and likely the Currency futures

1st - You need to understand Currencies are different from most all other things you can trade
ie. in VSA you have different rules and patterns to trade short. This makes senses if you are trading Oil or Apple or the S&P.
But for cash up for one currency is down for the other so to short is the same in currencies as to go long .
You Need to understand this!!!!

2nd - Reason Tick I believe is way better is simple (again this is for spot and future cash only)
Most trades are between banks: So if you use normal volume you can have BIG issues.
Ie. USD /CAD is traded for 10 million Dollars at that price point you will have a massive spike in volume (two times as both sides get hit) on one trade but price did not move. But Tick volume would be one tick (or none). Now was that one trade based on market issues or was it because a bank was bringing home cash after the Christmas vacation season or maybe GM is hedging its new car line or Apple has its profits coming back to the USA. – These 3 illustrations have nothing to do with the market.
- You see in the stock market volume is straight forward. Someone wanted stock and so bought a great deal of stock.
- In the cash market its not so simple. so in Cash I want transactions not just one to confirm the market move.
- In the stock market which is a much smaller market one trade may change the trend- not so the cash market.

Again having said this, there is well over a 90% correlation to both kinds.
But I think Tick is truer and you will not be faked out as likely by a GM hedge of the 2016 (LOL) car line.

TB- are one of the strongest signs
- its as it says a Transfer over a big area of the chart on high or climatic volume
Chart enclosed- is from a posting a few weeks ago - price dropped as it should after one of these bars

I wonder if someone might help answer two question.

The first one is what is the reverse to a hidden up thrust called? I do not see a hidden down thrust anywhere.
The second question I have is, is a hidden up thrust the same thing as an inside bar? if not how is it different?

About Market Profile & VSA. I trade with a bunch of MP traders & they are very good. However, whenever they get stuck they ask me to do an analysis for them. VSA/Wyckoff analysis always proves to be correct in their "blind spots". Many times we agree on potential for entries & we all benefit.
One of our group is also a robot wizard.. He is trying to get me to give him some good VSA signals to add to his robot, the problem is that they would be mechanical entry signals & not AI (artificial Intelligence) signals. We have agreed to use the "bot" as a scalper ie. scalp 10 pips & then exit. It is successful over a 24 hour period but I looked at his latest results, after a great start it has now tanked with a very strong drawdown over similar time period ie. a couple of days (over a week).
VSA is discressionary in decision making, so this is going to take a while before we get it right.. if ever..
