Seems an interesting point to join this thread.

I've been trading price action for years, primarily using select moving averages as S+R zones. I've noticed some talk of this on the previous page. I "cut my teeth" on the Trade What you See thread in the journals section of FF and would highly recommend it for anyone interested in the topic and in having one of the most valuable price action based resources on the internet.

I've had one eye on VSA for a long while now and have finally embraced it more fully with the view to it becoming integral to my trading. I find it helps me get in trades that I may otherwise have passed on due to the setup being of a poor pure PA standard. VSA gives you information that pure PA cannot convey on it's own so this will be a journey I plan on completing.

One thing, if I can ask anyone active on this thread. I have now, for years, just used basic MT4 broker tick volume to eyeball. I find it serves me well and has a high level of consistency as far as i'm concerned. Do experienced VSA traders consider this adequate or have you found an even more reliable/pooled source for the data?
well forex spot and data...hmm how to say it, it is good for learning and start but if you want to trade real money and do it for long term you need futures volume data feed

it is my personal view so dont be angry....it is BIG difference and lot of ppl who are trading with me (real time) can see it on daily basis

me + 2 guys are working on something and we are testing it nowdays during december and start of new year, when it will be done I will show you here and for free ofcourse, not gonna sell anything lol, just back to point....it is possible only with futures data feed

Forex futures will still be tick volume though so what is creating the difference in data quality?

its funny I would take the other said and say tick volume of forex is better. esp if we get into HFT again.
I have used both and to be honest I see no difference.

All the studies have shown the two types of volume are 93% to 97% the very same.
it use to be the forex brokers played with volume - but the big ones do not anymore

Hi Teb.

I wasn't denegrating tick volume at all. I agree, when you consider what it represents, it's hugely significant and if you're trading without it, you're tying one hand behind your back. Hence why I am now finally, fully embracing it. It's the nearest a retail trader will ever get to having some kind of insight into the order flow.

I have heard and read many detractors of tick volume in Forex, i've learned to ignore them. They simply cannot have studied how it works if they believe it doesn't hold valuable information for the trader.

I can see it mate, without a doubt. I more wondering about the why and how. What is it about the data fed into futures that makes it more accurate?

I don't expect you to have the answer to that by the way, just thinking out loud here

Thanks again mate.

Interesting stuff and my feed was subtly different again. I wouldn't have got a NS entry on the first one as mine was flat on that candle against the previous 3. On the second entry, my chart was almost exactly like your futures chart.

Do you know any futures brokers with a free MT4 demo platform?

the reason you see a difference normally is that a signal in the spot - will produce different signal in the futures
ie. a no demand ( low volume) will cause a high volume signal (supply coming in) in the future.
The reason is the pros watch the spot
both are right but the spot is the 1st signal
you may say the futures is easier to read

dont know free...I am paying for my data feed

but ninjatrader should have 1 free month...I think and sierra charts too.
so try them or google it,

yea sure, pros are looking for spot and also let ppl watch free volume on all demo accounts and all hints showing in spot price....sure

next year they are gonna give every noob also some guide how to long and sell according to spot volume

and as a MASSIVE conisidence all statistics and studies showed that Futures volume is NOT worth watching so PPL = 99% traders plz dont watch futures and concentrate on free non central spot volume with massive deviation from broker to another broker
