I have only been trading Forex for a short time. I'm actually winning right now with a long trade in USD/JPY. Should I close my trade now before the NFP?

Hey everyone

To start of, I am only a teenager trying to learn of foreign exchange and trying to make a little bit of money for university.

I have a very pressing question which has been bugging me. I recently BOUGHT 50$, 20,000 units of USD/JPY at 120.54. I did this because it was something like 5 minuets before the release of US data regarding jobs, employment and wages. However, even though the results were very positive, I lost 58 dollars because my trade closed at 120.19(the drop was extraordinary fast), however when I take a look at the graphs I see that the USD/JPY NEVER hit 120.19
What is going on? Why did the USD/JPY tank so suddenly and then jump to 121.00+? Is anyone able to provide me with some justification for this?
I am currently also using eToro as a broker.

Thanks once more in advance, I feel very upset and confuse and would like any guidance or help.

Shivam332, exactly, from the past price action the 124.0 seems absolutely reasonable. Thank you for sharing your 2 cents.

jumped on the moving boat at 120.60

took a ride to 121.23 and got off.. beautiful end to an already great week.. pips pips pips

good weekend folks

4400 this week

(although i am closed out of trades with this pair,... if i had one open, i would def leave it open over weekend)

It dropped to 120.08, so it well and truly blasted past your SL.

Treat this as paying for an education. Read up on trading the NFP and you will realize that most people avoid trading this day entirely because it is unpredictable. Rather than trading with real money, you should spend your money reading books and trading demo accounts only!
