See the first post of this thread for an alternative MTF stoch indicator that does not display the effect you describe. Why don't you use that one instead? Refer to the thread for relevant discussion on said indicators.

Thanks for the reply xaphod

Are you referring to the MTF Stoch with the dots? If so can I just ask whether its just a normal stochastic except that it shows the current information as yellow?

May I suggest you read the same page your initial post was on for an answer to your question and try out the indicator before asking any more questions?

amfx,

one of the essentials of GMS-used indicators are 'they don't repaint'. Don't know if you're using these indicators for GMS or another strategy, but I doubt, that giving more information of stochastics during last minutes of a i.e. M15-cycle will give you any advantage.

Hi Xaphod,

I really like you Stoch-Mtf indicator, that's what i'm looking for. It is very suitable to Spudfyre MTF system that i use. Your indicator does telling the truth about what it read, not trying to fitting the curve. It's very useful to do statistical backtesting. Thank you for your excelent job. By the way do you have an alert version of your Stoch-Mtf?

For the backtesing purposes, won't Utra MTF Stochastics be better?

This MTF indi is not designed for backtesting.

Thanks. I'm afraid I have not written one with alerts. I you don't mind getting your hands dirty, you could try adding alerts with hanovers 'Alert builder kit'.

Unless it has changed recently, the MT4 strategy tester does not support MTF backtesting. If it does show higher timeframe data, it is data from the current history. Therefore, you will be seeing the closing price of the higher timeframe bars before they actually close. In other words you will be seeing the future closing price. So it is very easy to make lots of profitable trades.

As heispark suggests, it is better to use the Ultra MTF stoch which should give more accurate results. Alternatively you can adjust the normal stoch settings with a factor dependent on the the timeframe ratio or use the period converter and offline charts to generate the higher timeframe charts in simulation time.

Great indicators and much Kudos for your work. Forgive me if this has been covered, I have done a search in the thread, but is it possible to implement the mql function WindowScreenShot within the GMTS_Dash indicator?

I've had a go at doing it in the GMTS Matrix, but I'm not sure if I can apply this to multiple time frames like the Dash does, which is why I'm asking about adding it the the Dash.

You are welcome. I don't think you can take screenshots of charts that do not exist. I expect the function will take a screenshot of whatever chart it is running on. And it is not something I would put in the dashboard. Also MT4 had a bug that made using the WindowScreenShot function in indicators unreliable. I do not know the current state of the bug. Metaquotes has no public bug tracker.

Possibly you may use the 'Screenshot on Order'. Unfortunately I didn't find it here,
but it is one of Xaphods's fine tools too - maybe from another thread.

I suspected as much regards screenshotting a high timeframe, tis a shame. I guess I'll just have to work on the one time frame for now.

I've just discovered push notifications in metatrader, would it be possible to add this to the dash instead of screen shots? What I need is a way to be notified of a setup while at work, and this looks almost perfect as I can view the setup on my mobile then.

I'll add notifications next time I update the indicators. In the mean time you can use the email alerts.

hey Xaphod, im still using your arrow, its cool. is it possible to make an EA out of it, i like do some backtests and i am too slow to catch the entries on m1 but that should work. with an manual option to enter only short or long

Hi, I do not know which arrow you are referring to. If you write up a proper specification of your EA and post a request on platform tech or in one of the free programming threads, you might find someone willing to to it.
