Fundies usually only trigger a 30-50 pip move unless something really big is announced. If you know your technicals, you will pay very little attention to the fundies IMO

I think we are going to see another shot at this trendline taken...if it holds, I will reverse and go long!

Right now I see UJ the same as I see GJ. Consolidating, and looking to go up. I see no justification for shorting either pair.

117.845 is the bottom for UJ. Up from here.

My view has been, that this pair has been in consolidation for past couple weeks. So, I did see the potential for short opportunities. But, for me, easier to wait for retrace to finish, and go with the trend. But I think only natural to prefer long trades with this pair right now, no? If it starts making new lows on the daily chart, or retracing close to prior low, then I'd feel more comfortable trading both ways. Right now, it's a rather non-volatile one directional situation...

Edit: Having said all of that. You are right, I do prefer long trades. If USDJPY turns down, I probably won't short it, but instead go long on EURUSD or something. One thing about short trades, when the spread widens (Oanda is my broker), as it does sometimes, it can hit your stop easily. But on a long trade, the widening of the spread has no affect on hitting your SL...

Alright bulls...4 hour looks way to promising to not buy in. I say we are headed for a breakout and a new high by tomorrow morning. 120-121 by the end of the week is possible with US data this week!
