A forum is not the place where you can find absolute truth. It's place where you can find and share ideas.
If somebody hides the fact that he lost an account... that's his choice.
If somebody wants to share how he caught 100 in 10 minutes... it's his choice.
If sombody wants to follow someoby else... that's his choice.
If somebody wants to say that he doesn't agree with trading news... that's his choice.

If somebody is stupid enough not to test something and bet his money on something somebody else said... let him do it, that's the only way to learn.

The internet is full of this: TEST BEFORE TRADE REAL MONEY. You have to be stupid or greed enough not to do so.

The thread is "How do you trade news?". It's not "Do you trade news? If yes, how, if now, why?".

I've created a thread where we can discuss if trading news woth it. This thread starts from the idea that it does. So, let's not mix things.

I wholely agree with Dof......you are the one responsible for your lost or gain.... this forum is great in sharing. It up to you to choose to follow it, to modified it or to ignore it. I know a few traders make money by trading news.. but for me, I do not have many luck with them....But it is always nice to read others who willing to share their success or failure. Many thanks

Cast aside the arguments for a second and check out the learning oportunity this whole situation with MM initiated, I thinks its pretty valuable to read people's reactions and perspectives on this, keep it up! [img]images/smilies/biggrin.gif[/img] But enough for now... lol

I would just like to say that with regards to the actual topic of this thread "How do you trade the news" there's been some really good insight into strategies and trading ethos - along with trader's results.

I'm just wondering whether there should be more focus into what everyone's learning/have learnt as they trade the news.

Since we act on what we learn, by sharing learning experiences hopefully this will lead us into a better understanding of how we trade the news, rather than what our strategy is.

You'd better believe it! I took several pictures and from 15Min before the Release they spiked the entry buy stop to 25 pips above the buy price. Ditto for the sell price -- so those plus the 3 pip actual spread is your 53 pips!

They repeated this farce on Friday for the USA GDP.

Apart from blackballing this outfit, there are others out there and a friend used one for the Durable Goods and Jobless Claims who did not spike their entries. There are also other techniques to use, but the point is not to be too public I guess. There are obviously many rats in the brokerage.

To some extent you are correct, brokers couldn't care less how people trade. However, I've used my own version of this news trading strategy for over a year and I've seen a VERY direct correlation between the number of people using this system and the spreads on various brokers during news releases. For example, when the 'Amazing Forex System' came out, the spreads all went up by about 5 pips as well. So, the brokers do adjust their spreads due to how much money they lose during big news events. If only a few people use a strategy that takes money from the brokers, they don't care...if a LOT of people start taking money from them, they are going to take some form of action to prevent it.
That's why you need a broker who passes it through to the interbanking system and doesn't trade against YOU. The majority seem to be sharks with a butterup approach until you find out what they are actually up to.

In this they appear to be like the gambling casinos and we know who wins 95% of the time there.

That won't work either. The brooker can't pass the trade fast enough at those times and ends up taking the loss. He will either close your account or slip, requote, jump your stop in case of a quick reversal, or all of the above. Even with ecn's this doesn't work for long. News trading=noobie trading.

why did u hate news trading and it's traders too much?
u sound like a bitter kid who can't have ice cream and sabotage ur friend who get it...
i know that u lose a large chunck of your account..
just a question : did u know how to manage risk?
news trading give us another option on how to trade.. not just rely on our TA..
if using TA u only risk 1% of your account, use the same risk for news trading, so your account will be a long lasting one..

Demo an EA (Expert Adviser) or a robots like FX Engines; profits can be made on news trades, and BTW I'm seeing them, but you need a broker who doesn't spike the spread like FXSOL is doing. They obviously can't cut it in this environment, but traders post here who are doing well with better brokers. Take your time and setup the EA's or robots based on trial and observation on what works for you.

Trinity, but let me understand something please.

Means that when they enlarged a bit...the spread, everybody was stoped out before the news, I mean, also who entered the trade 1 hours before for instance ?

Well, as they repeated on friday with gdp, maybe they saved their account for 2 days, but im sure they are going to loose a lot of clients...

Yes, you got me, I'm a broker rat, trying to keep all the money to myself. you say you're glad that as a noob you never lost trading news. I'm glad for you too. Fund managers, big time traders, guys trading for a many years all stay away from news, I've fooled them all, but I guess you're just smarter. Ok, noob, continue trading the news, don't listen to broker rats like me, reread the thread and listen to smarter people like money master. The guy used 80% or something in a single trade and lost with a broker he could swear by, where were you then with the money management advice.
You know what, no senior trader was willing to step in and say anything then, I'm starting to think I was stupid for doing so myself. Sorry for the rant, sure, if it works for you, keep doing it, good luck.

Their quotes of BUY and SELL against say GDPUSD remain the same so that existing trades are not affected with gains or losses, but they won't let you enter at Market or by Limit order for some 15 min before the event unless you pay 25 pips extra to the quoted BUY/SELL -- so they have cut you out and shown their contempt for you as a customer, whenever they choose. That some other brokers handle this without such antics says much for the other brokers.

No they don't. Clients need to read the fine print. Go on FXsol website, they clearly specify their fast market policy in fact every broker does, the noobs choose to not belive tho. Look man, I lost myself trading news, but I don't hate the broker. Is it his fault that he doesn't like taking losses from me? When you lose it's good to keep it in perspective and learn the lesson, let's not start broker hating posts again(although it's very tempting, I must admit those guys make it hard to like them )

I thought this thread is to discuss about the how to trade the news. I'm follow this thread from beginning, it was so nice. But not anymore.
There is a thousand of thread about TA here in forexfactory to be discuss but only few of it talking about news.
So pls keep this thread for news discussion only. If you are absolutely TA trader, don't mess this thread.

That's the answer -- choose a broker who doesn't need to treat the client as a victim to the extent FXSOL does. The presidents of the Forex Trading Club (http://www.forextradingclub.com/index.shtml), or the Winning Traders Association (http://www.winningtradersassociation.com/gf) can recommend better brokers.

yes, i can. i risk only 1% of my overall capital...
even if i lose (which thank god i've never experienced that..), i still can make money using my TA and another news...

that guy used 80% of HIS money with money that he can afford to lose... that's the way he managed it.. i'm still with my 1-2% rule of thumb.. i've got nothing to lose.. if i lose that 1-2%, i won't came here crying, whining and babbling like senile old man and make other people hate news trading...

the solution?
read the broker TOS and choose the one u're comfortable with...

yup, i'm thankful also
but he/she need to argue it with professionalism, not with emotion...
i know that there's no thing such as GUARANTEE in forex, but so far i'm comfortable with news trading and TA..
not just rely on one technique...
