I think you're correct on your appreciation, so I'm going to include the information you suggested as well.

I forgot another important information that should be include: the pair traded!!

Complementing my previous post, today I traded the eurusd: the total profitable movement was 80 pips, the immediate retracement was of 23 pips.

I'm looking forward for everyone's info!

2 days ago I also got requotes...but what is the point now to tell you which is my broker or to know which broker is good in news ??

I garantee you that if somebody tells which broker is good in news, this broker will be bad in news in 2 weeks...like happened just with FXS..

So please guys, nobody is there to give us money for free.

Is good to help eachother , but with the tools...not with the system itself...otherwise nobody helps anybody and we will all pay, soon or later..

It's not working because the people don't know how to use the information because it looks so simple when somebody else is doing it and it's so hard when you are doing it.

Going from one to another the information is altered. It gets modified and it's a different thing.

A strategy is not a set of rules, is the result of hard working and years of testing/trading/loosing/winning/sceaming..., and for some people is not working because they want to soon to work or they want to work all the time.

And when many people use the strategy and they all say it's not working it becomes universal true: IT'S NOT WORKING. And why? Because everybody say so. Or allmost everybody, and what everybody say must be the truth because everybody's saying that. It doesn't mean that they are not able to use it right, or to test it enough or whatever, it's just not working.

Just some points I've noted from this thread:

 

  1. MM is nice enough to share news trading strategies with us, that is admirable
  2. When losing $300 of YOUR $1000 account, only YOU are to blame
  3. Slippage, requotes during news is a KNOWN risk

Exactly ptejerina, it gives you the edge you need to make money. If you share your ideas with just a few people and you work together to make them into a strategy, you have an edge you can make money with. The second you broadcast those same ideas to a very public place, the edge that information originally gave you to make money vanishes. It's not being selfish, it's being logical. After all, exactly whom does it benefit to share your edge with the world if the edge no longer is there when you do?? Great, you've given EVERYONE a way to lose money, what a great gift!

In other words, its good to share basic strategies for other people to use, but its just naive to share all the specifics as well since you are hurting yourself and helping no one.

For example, I commend MM on sharing the news straddle strategy as it CAN BE a profitable strategy. However, if you then say, put a trade exactly 10 pips to either side of the price exactly 1 minute before the news comes out, you have just hurt that specific strategy. The dealing desks, large hedge funds, banks, etc. will now try to shoot the price back 10 pips to take people out 1 minute before news. You just gave them the information they needed to take your money! I've seen this happen multiple times, and each time I have to slightly alter my strategy so that it continues to work.

No, I think there is no way to go out of this.
Brokers are stonger then us, and the forex machine is a huge devil machine.

To make money you have to be smarter then others. thats it.

And smart is not copying.

Smart is getting the tools and learn to use these.

For me there is no point to make list, especially of the good ones because will become bad aswell.

news trading is taking money from brookers. They can't offset the position at those times, so you are taking money from them. This will not work in the long run, if at all. Trading with a good intraday or swing trading system is taking money from the market. Let me guess, your a noob going for quick cash. If you're not willing to put in the work forex will eat you and spit you out fast. Good luck to you.

Not at all. It's the first book I read when I started trading. Mark Douglas knew what he was saying, and I'm actually going to reread it now. It teaches all the right stuff.
I suggest to finish this thread, so broker's managers and owners can enjoy the week end and relax with wifes..so instead of making 1000 millions a day, they will go back to make 1001 millions a day ahahahahahah

I've got a question in regards to CPI announcements:
why if the CPI figure comes out greater than expected, it is considered good news for the currency?

As far as I know, CPI is an inflation indicator, so if it rises that means that inflation is rising too.
So what's so good about rising inflation?

It means the fed is more likely to increase the federal funds rate...which in turn tightens flow of that currency and makes each individual unit of the currency more valuable. It confused me early on as well, but most scheduled news is measured by the effect it will have on the country's interest rate.

I agree that you need to have your own strategy. As a matter of fact, I usually trade with classic technical and fundamental techniques using 1 hour and daily charts. In this scenario, the only thing that would matter for me is a good API with excellent charting options, good customer service, and low spreads. That is why I use C M S.

However, I do think there is a lot of extra potential by trading the news. And in this type of strategy, what you need from a broker is completely different: fast order processing speeds, low slippage, guaranteed stop orders, etc. And there must be a broker that is better than others for these characteristics at any particular moment. Maybe this characteristics can change in time, so you can also change broker at that time.

What I want to investigate is the broker, not the system. I pretty much know what system I may be using to complement my old system. However, for the system to be useful I need an adecuate broker.
