if you think EURUSD tranded in 2014 then you should reconsider what is trending or not.
if you wnat to see trending EURUSD chart & want to trade against, you should go little back & test there.
then we can discuss the results if you like to share.

Very interesting...I think 2008 would be the steepest trend, I'll run tests for the period and post results sometime during the coming week. Thanks for the idea.

Only counter trend can do this. Once you know where price will go you will make it!

are you sure you are trading countertrend? you might be catching the end of trend that you consider as counter & move with start of new trend.

I won't bother explaining why "the trend is your friend", because if you don't get it or can't figure it out, then you really shouldn't be trading in the first place.

However, this is one of the few and true trading "myths" or "phrases" (I forget the word) that has withstood the test of time.

Sorry... but for the sake of... everyone... this thread should be moved to the 'rookie' section.

-Hello Ullen, very interesting, I thought it was just me who was against the trend, some time ago my trades were on the wrong side, so I decided to do an experiment and go against of my friend the trend and to my surprise most of my trades were positive, is why I do not use moving averages to measure the tendency anymore, I prefer my S / R best friends, and go to where the market wants to go :3

That's not counter trend. The daily and weekly trends are down.

The problem with defining trends is that there are shorter term trends on lower time frames that may be in the opposite direction to the longer term trend.

I think we all need to get over the subject title of Ullen's journal.

FYI, He did mention in the thread opening that he was referring to the shorter term trend.

I can get over it, my concern is that a new reader will read it, see the OPs results (which are very good at the moment) and take it at face value. Counter trend trading is tricky and needs laser point entries and exits and total discipline. OP offers no methods or guidance. To me a statement that 'the trend is your enemy' is reckless and could cause someone to lose a lot of money.

Fair enough I understand your point....so far there is nothing for a newbie to follow other than blindly following a statement.

I understand some of the reason why Ullen has made the statement that he has because of what I learnt from other threads that Ullen also shared in but also from my own trading experience which tends to be more scalping then catching long term trends.
