thanks for advising the FTSE, that might idd be the better idea here since at least the underlying market is open, going for a quicks scalp here to the long side: target 6 points, stop 6 points

I always trade it am when the Germans are on holiday. I really like it actually, but trade the Dax because you get more bang for your buck in the number of pips you get on a winning trade. I too am scalping short trades, mainly on the short side for now. Trade safe!

Yes, I trade the FTSE as well as the DAX. But you're right about more bang for your buck with the DAX. For me both DAX and FTSE have a spread of 1 point, yet the current average daily range for the DAX is 155 and only 81 for the FTSE so if you want more pips for the same spread the DAX is better. At the moment, 10am UK time, the FTSE is not doing much, hovering around the open line and my 2 cents guess is that it won't do much ahead of non-farm payroll later.

Dax. Long to 9337. NFP should roll it over. Or just stay there as no German exchange.?

hi all,

no dax-trading for me today. will try to make some pips on eurusd/gbpusd with the nfp - and dow of course.

for those trading dax today: adp and nfp are highly correlated (correlation coefficient vary between 0,75 and 0,9) over time.
so it is likely nfp will be moderate above expectations.

Thats my first post here .Hope everyone is fine and enjoying the day off trading from DAX.Have a nice weekend everyone and watch out monday gap or whatever reaction DAX is gona have on NFP news.

Thanks for the info...could you please point me to the right dirrection for a full fundamental book or something to learn this stuff.I have a good technical aproache but I would love to have the fundamental knowladge too

FTSE has now retraced Fibs 61.8 of the last decline on 15 min chart, volatility low.

German bank holiday today... so no trading the Dax open for me. took a 6 point hit on FTSE buy.

Waiting for the dow this evening.

From a technical perspective, it's looking very much like equities are going to break strongly to the upside, but we'll know in half an hour I guess.

cat: totally agree with you but not staying in with NFP coming up :-) ... there will be probably new chances later on ;-)
