Yes it is a form of a retest. Double tap (double top) is the term I use in the live online trading room I am a part of. The group takes market open trades every day after a market outlook is given and are very successful. However, these trades happen too early for me so I generally trade after US red news has cleared. I have included an image of the ENTRY patterns I use for determining a trigger. The ones posted are for short trades, the inverse of the pattern is true for longs. A double tap, triple tap, head and shoulders, reverse HS, 3 point turn, and one we call the leaning ghost (my favorite) are proven patterns for entry triggers on all levels of charts, immediate, midrange, and daily.

These provide a tangible pattern to look for and a precise location to place a pending buy/sell line along with a great area for a solid SL level and are HIGHLY effective (as long as the pattern occurs in the correct area matched with correct PA). For instance a midrange chart HH followed by a HL at supt, accompanied by favorable daily candles ( the Euro trade I missed this morning). When this happens, I drop down to my immediate time frame entry chart (M3 renko) for a more precise entry and to minimize my stop. I would never take one of these triggers if they randomly appear outside a supt/resistance box, unless I am going with a strong trend.

The BASIC progression: 1) Consider daily; 2) consider midrange, 3) if PA points to it, look for the entry trigger in a supt/resistance box on your lowest time frame, hopefully with the medium term and long trend. If counter trend stay 1-1 RR, and let areas of s/r acting as your lock profit and take profit areas. AND trade around key news events. NEVER speculate based on some news release. Can't tell you how many bad trades I have taken thinking price was going to go to a certain level based on some news release. Trade around news, wait for the news event to clear, and take your entry based on price action.

I rarely know what was said in the news while trading, only that a news release has passed and that now I can look for an entry. Too many people speculate on what was said in the news on this board in my opinion. Be aware of the news release, then let PA dictate your entry, and never hold a large position prior to a major news release...this is gambling especially once high volume trading returns in September.

Here is a trade I mapped out and entered on my entry chart a few weeks ago. You can see the entry trigger, but I took that trigger based on my midrange chart (M8) price action. HH on midrange chart, followed by a pullback to support and a great trigger on my entry chart. An extremely high probability trade.

I traded standard candles for several years, but went to median renko charts for PA trading because they eliminate sideways price action and adjust to the speed of the market. This cleans things up and makes it easier to read PA. A line chart was added to further clarify entry patterns. IF no trigger appears, you don't take the trade.

I do take a lot of scalps, don't hold trades overnight, or over the weekend. Don't stare at screens all day, all trades taken off of a 24 hour server so i can shut down things and work off of cell alerts. This is designed to limit trading psychology and trade mechanically without emotion.

This has been developed over a decade and I am constantly looking for improvements. I tend to not use, moving averages, pivots, rsi, or fibo levels although I do place a fibo retrace on a chart now and again.

I find pure price action much more reliable than indicators and retrace levels. The cleaner a chart is with less noise the clearer I tend to think.

Trading ain't easy, I've made every mistake in the book, lost my ass on occasion, but I understand now that this game takes experience....and that means trading live with substantial lot sizes that have the potential to change your life. My rule is 0.1 lot for every $2000 in my account is the most I risk. IF a person is a career demo or micro trader...then what's the point? You can't truly evaluate your trading ability unless you have some true skin n the game.....

Said much here, but explaining my trading to others helps solidify things for me.

AU TICK/M5

Anyone else have this discrepancy from AUDUSD yesterday in the minute of 13:34 BST? I have a 40 pip drop occurring within this 1 minute window as seen on the tick chart - and clearly NOT seen on the M1 chart.

i saw gold was dropping quick to below 1300 and bounced also .............#Ukraine ? or #Rumor(?) that soros increased his "sell" in stock ?

whatever.. still trying to catch 3650 even not in straight line

yeah - seen the bounce in Gold just now and silver not being so bouncy - all PA the same on all timeframe charts there so everything "normal" - I checked out the Soros story a little and it seems that his S&P puts are just a hedge for his Net long S&P position - which I'm sure the market as a whole would have been aware of.

And yes - with you on EU perspective - I have weekly levels 477 and 588 above - still well below the May/Aug (so far)swing mid in the 660s - all flat at the moment - but more longs coming next week - All the best mate

thank for the "hedge" info of soros buddy....

EU : aniway my weekly candle-broker closed few pips below weekly open...but overall ( till 4H and daily ) closed above monthly open already... . still hold long over the weekend .

meanwhile.... 50 pips hit and run for Kiwi in Long

Shorts are long term, and they have to sit through daily/weekly correction wave now if they want a lower target.

I wont call you the Alpha or the Omega! That name is for the creator. God. But i can say that youre a great and awesome trader. Im sorry i never gave you a chance to air your view. Im sure you know there alot of so called fx gurus who are fakes. Im apologizing publicly and letting the whole of forex factory know that similarity must rule forever.

To the rest of the house, eurusdd seemed a little egotistic but IMO we were wrong. He had good intentions. But we didnt give him fair hearing.

fortunately i wasn't buying then. most of those guys closed those demo's and went home. even now i haven't bought although i could have several times where i perceived a bounce may occur, near 3325/12.. there are some nice hammers near 3325 on those tf. no denying on those tf it looks bullish. but the time to long was near 3325... that monthly candle with trend can easily slap down those smaller tf. atm i see those candles inside, w/o having broke 3444. this thing may still go either way. the set up for 3289 is still valid..last week closed red, and the day candle closed below the current cluster high close at 3403.6, the same one the week closed below.. all we had last week was a inside week.. that closed red..w/o challenging 3444. it may go up, but the argument has big flaws. it may be less bearish, that dont make it bullish. break 34444 or at least 3433 and i may be a buyer after the retrace to 3384, if the low holds

My buddy sees 3292 but I told him as I'll tell you that when a level is too obvious, people front run the level and sometimes it never comes to fruition.
I know I certainly place "teasers" orders before the big orders, just because I'd rather catch the move with "something". Even if its a little something.
I expect a dip to start the week but we should finally get that bullish weekly close this week

I rarely enter market as a consumer of liquidity. Almost always as a producer.
