Plenty of negative news re Russia & Ukraine have sent the DAX and S&P south......another nice hit on a KO type price projection.....

Thanks - I'll see what I can find on my platforms - I traded the NYMEX contract years ago.....huge margin....hugely volatile too....

No biggie - - It isn't liquid tho , no real volume intraday but good if you wanna have a play on the risk longer term.

Might be a good gap fading opportunity if it does gap down and doesn't hold momentum seeing we're at a support area

Don't know about that...dax got huge bearish momentum , all it has to show for is spikes...pretty risky imo, g/l

GM - on my charts the S&Ps low at 0215 gmt was a full 8 handles lower than its low whilst the DAX was still open which I estimate as ~65 DAX points which would put DAXs equivalent low ~ the 8900 level. My last KO projection off the 15m chart is at 8919. The low so far is 8921!

I sold 1m after the open and banked a quick 20. Time for coffee.....

When are we going to see the bounce! 8850 seems in reach, been a week of continuous drop, almost 1000 ticks since last Friday! Hell!

Frankly we haven't seen any encouraging economic news for about 10 days. And there are what they call the geopolitical concerns. Ukraine. Iraq etc

An unbroken series of down days like we've been seeing is unusual. The euro hasn't been hammered so badly, surely there is value in shares at their 10pc discount compared with a couple months ago, and perhaps at some stage buyers will come back in. I guess most of this selling is institutional

My MA arrangements on the hourly chart are showing me that we will probably not go lower today, so could be a bullish Friday up to 9,115, if not today, then Monday. That should be a good place to sell if we get there, but it all depends on how the price reacts. We can go lower, a lot lower to 8,565, or, if we are witnessing a more full scale equities sell off here, something I alluded to on the thread two weeks ago, we could drop as low as 7,890. Much depends in my view not what happens in the Middle East this month, but what happens in Ukraine. Equally, this could be the low or thereabouts, for now, but I feel we will continue South as all indications, both technical and fundamental are not looking positive for equities.

Who knows, but IMO so far this morning we have seen controlled profit and I've been trading both ways - just closed a sell off yesterday's low at today's open.
I have a minor projection to 8878 and I'm now flat and finished for this morning.

Let's see what the US traders do.....I have an S&P projection down to 1891 on my charts - this morning's new low was at 1894.....

Morning all !!!
In this kind of period, where there are many external variables that can strongly influence the markets, I think we should implement the policy of small steps.
Avoiding getting ideas that imprison us. If we look at a weekly chart, then no one can deny that the retracement from 10000 might be just a start. The market, as always, but especially at this time is managed/controlled by strong hands. Don't forget it's August.
It can be seen from many key levels that they don't touch for just a few points, thus avoiding giving precise reference.
(you may notice this on the DAX, FTSE, and even on ITA).
In these cases, I try to be a farmer, looking at references that have a clear beginning and an end.
Aside from the many generic words (I see that here too you spend a lot of words to facts often already occurred).
Translated into numbers, this means to me, that today I can operate in the following manner:

on 30 min basis :

  1. if open >8979.5 -> long
  2. if open <8951.5 -> short

maybe this can help some of you, especially if said in time

The best thing that can happen to you is to find out where you're wrong.

but that doesn't mean that we cannot have a 100+ pip movement against the underlying trend. You have to constantly study your charts all the way down to 1min time frames if you want to catch these moves. All depends on your trading style though.
