Look at the angle of the green line on my first pic above, its standing up at a good angle when I entered the trade, the pic was taken a couple of minutes after taking it, if its flat unless the trade has something else in its favour its not a good idea to enter.

If you actually read the thread from the beginning, at least the first 50 pages, you would know what the angle is all about. So if you really want to make it, take the time to read or else, your money is at risk as I will be on the side waiting for it.

Hi Lastingwell

Yes utilizing the angle of cross of TDI is very important, took me time to really understand that , but today news pushed the market for new structure high on EA, EJ, GJ , was following the m15 candle after news, news was due at my local time around 3:15 pm, so in following what I have been doing, I would wait 3:30 M15 candle to close in order to entry with news momentum so that is 15 minutes after ADP news or with new H4 candle opening, the way you took it on H4

I haven't done good this week, so in following the trading plan I am writing, am taking the rest of the week off and use that time to back-test , question is!

Would you wait a retracement on lower time frame before taking the entry after the new H4 candle prints, or news momentum would allows for an entry directly after the new H4 candle opens?

For sure trading with the prevailing trend (with the MACD) rather than counter-trend helps to put the odds of the trade working out in your favour - as does waiting to make sure the second candle is the same colour as the first one, as it indicates momentum is probably continuing. However, an improvement I suggest you can make to your strategy is to do as I do and only take the trade if the second candle closes above the first (if long) and below if going short. Why? Because if I'm going long I want to be buying strength and selling weakness if going short. If the second candle hasn't even got enough strength/weakness to close above (long) or below (short) the previous candle then you have to ask, is that a trade I really want to be in. Worth a try anyway. Good luck.

The biggest challenge for me with trading day charts is to allow the current day to close when it is showing a move, especially when it is 100pips or so.

Here with the EJ breaking out, it will be interesting to see if the move continues. The original TDI break was not strong so was not a valid entry - if the day closes near its current high, then that will be my entry point, although PA will then be closing in on the 200ema.

EA / GA / NJ / AN look like better options

Just got back to find my EJ had taken profit at last. Sorry didn't take a pic when I took the trade as wasn't at my usual computer at the time. Not the best cross but coupled with a bounce up on the daily and what looks to me like an inverted head and shoulders on H4 and a relatively small stop loss it was worth a shot. As it turned out is would have been better to wait for the bounce earlier today, but if we could look into the future trading would be easy

When I was able to be in front of the computer all day, then I used to wait for a retracement on lower timeframes, but I've taken Bizzle's advice and just concentrated on the h4 now (with the D1 tdi that I like) because I just need to be able to look at certain times of the day and the rest of the day I can't guarantee to be in front of the computer and I've found that there really hasn't been much drawdown if I've taken a good signal along with the d1 its working really well.

If you are backtesting you really need to use the tdi-mtf-zz to see if there really was a good signal at the time the candle opened. If you're backtesting for instance H4 then put this on the H1 chart to see where the tdi actually was at the time as it locks where the tdi was at the close of the H1 bar. It helps to see how often the tdi may cross and then uncross etc etc. There is also the matrix that Xaphod wrote based on the same indicator, which is good if you just want to know where there was a cross without looking at the angle.

I was watching this trade from last week. It looked becoming a loser (drawdown is less than 25 pips anyway) for a while but it's finally become a winner! It works like a magic. Thank you lastingwell for sharing your live chart. I learned one more thing from you.

Thanks for good idea, when back-testing H1 and you don't know the relation and condition of TDI H4 this might get u in lots of trouble, so will include that indi definitely

You don't need anything but support/resistance, and the tdi from the timeframe you're working on and the one higher.

What numbers you put in the parameters for the tdi tdi-mtf is put in 4 h daily?

Just change the top line to whichever timeframe you want to see. so 240 (h4)or 1440 (D1)

couldnt agree more with this post on all counts

also sticking to H4 charts with your H4 + D1 mtf tdi system, my extra twist is im also using nanningbob 10.7 CSS (currency strength) info page for added confirmation. the CSS also helps me decide on the strength of a move and roughly how long i should stay in.

i must say this is the first time im trading TMS with confidence and making sound trades, obviously there are losers but im definitely getting an edge.

many thanks lastingwell and if this continues i may well be in the position of owing you a drink or two
