{quote} And my comment to this trade is following, system you are using to work properly needs TREND... there is no tread, this is an environment of profit realization after strong move we can see on left side... this is very unstable environment because buyers are fighting with sellers, and nobody knows who is going to win, so I rather void such places or wait for a winner to follow him, this is typical situation to play breakout, not a trend ... and finally , it is much easier to comment a fallen trade then to take good one ...:nerd:

I never looked at things that far and was convinced that moment when 10 ema crosses 35/50 is treated as a trend of the moment start and you count first and second touch from the moment of crossing 35/50

{quote} In this trade , the 35 + 50 looks very flat. The member Kdao made a good post for your case . http://www.forexfactory.com/showthre...45#post6721945 It looks like you scroll/zoom too much your charts and that way you canīt see the steepnesss about your MA angles . I do that only for a " fine entry" .. when i see a steep angle and the price is near a line .

I did zoom out and all looks much better now ;-)

How many good trades a day can you spot guys and what is your R:R ratio and what % or risk?
Mine is R:R I set at 1:3 (10 pips to 30) but nearly always shut manually, these days it is hard to catch movement of 30 pips ;-)
I risk aprox 1% each 10 pips

The manual says you can get 4% daily constantly, but at this market conditions I:d be happy with 1%

Good night and thanks for help :-)

Hey man,
Remember how many times I commented on appropriate zoom? Best suggestion I have is to fix the pip axis and keep the same width on the bars. This way your eyes are trained and after a while you can easily recognize a trend (which by the way is best to judge by the 35/50 steepness, the 10 is ok only for short trades).
In regards to R:R my only comment is that I never payed any attention to it. It feels to me like dictating the market what to do, and as you know the market doesn't like to be dictated....
So if I risk 15 pips and I see a profit of 10 pips trying to reverse, I will take the pips and run, so my R:R is crappy but the account is not...

let me please say few words more...
I never look for trades 1:3, or 1;2, 1:1.... you never can be sure how much market gives you, so why you try predict your R:R? This is a probability game. tell me please if you have 100 USD lying on the table and there is 95% sure you can get it if you risk 200? What will you do? Or you prefer risk 33 USD to get this 100 USD, but you have only 30% probability you win? What I would like to say is take what market offers, your target is not R:R, your target is not 1% or 4% daily, your target IS TO TAKE GOOD TRADE and this should be your ONLY concern.

I don't wait till price hist my TP, I set it as safety valve on 1:3 as price may drop 30pips quite rapid. I close manually most of the times as I keep looking at bars after entry all the time, basically I go flat when I see price hesitates, so usually I catch 7-15 pips

Thanks for your attention guys, I will post my bad trades from time to time next to good ones ;-)

and for a change a trade I didn't take. It looked like retrace to 10 ema, but yellow line at 136.40 points support line price hasn't been lower since last November, touched once to this point in February and went north again, so I skipped the trade, besides it went above 10 ema
BTW this is how my chart looks now so I can see angle of EMAs better ;-)

Mentioned in the thread already 2-3 times. My preference is:
H1: fixed 200 pips
M15: fixed 150 pips
M5: fixed 100 pips
M1: fixed 50 pips

This means that the y-axis on these charts doesn't change scale, it is always the same amount of pips.

what I did in this case is I went north at yellow line and got 16 pips, could've get more but was afraid it won't go further than 35/50

I believe Kostas means to click'n'hold the left mouse button while the mouse pointer is located inside the price ticks (vertical scale of a chart) an move the mouse up/down to the point it visually suits the length of the candlesticks.

Kostas,
if you are in the mood, could you please post a fullscreen of your MT4 layout?
I've also been struggling for quite some time with finding an optimum layout...
Thank you in advance!

and a question about chart below - please take a look at red circle - would you class it as 10 ema touch? after the fact it might seem it is close, but in the moment when only this one bar existed it was 5 pips away from 10 ema - does it mean that retrace to 10 ema will be first one?

your line is thicker ;-)
point is that few bars later it looks like it has touch it but before, when only touching bar was there, the touch wasn't so obvious ;-)

I took the exact opposite trade in EJ earlier, caught about 11 pips as well.

Reasons to enter:

  1. Move from S1 to R2
  2. Confluence of R2, 137.00 round number and H4 35

Reasons for exit:

  1. R1
  2. Strong upmove

Looks like I pretty much sold my position to you, good thing we both made money

Kostas, is the above what you do, or there is a functionality in MT4 that you can use to enter the number of pips that the chart displays vertically depending on the TF? (I have played with changing the vertical space of charts suggested by kdao, and could not set certain vertical distances I wanted).

Thank you.
