Trend or direction?

Today I am writing this article, aiming mostly at people with less experience in the market which doesn't mean that everyone else should just ignore it, in fact I would like you to give some feedback on something that I consider extremely important when making our trading decisions, it's always good to understand how most traders would deal with these type of situations.

I have chosen GOLD cause this one has got a perfect example of contradictory swings on different time frames.
Remember I would like to know how would you approach this dilemma using your own trading techniques / System.
This example shows the Russian dolls principle, as you start opening them you find there are consecutive smaller ones inside.

On the first chart (weekly) price has struck against 70.7 % Retracement and forms bearish engulfing on the same time frame.

On daily chart price comes down strong, stops at 50% and bounces with a very clear bull candle.

On the 4 hours price completed 61.8 retracement and turned down without taking the lows of the daily.

What is the immediate direction for this trade 1 to 4 hours?
What trends can you discern?
Where do you enter with the best possible R:R to join the next move in the respective time frame
Hopefully we will be able to learn something from each other.

they burn witches for stuff like this. are you saying there smaller moves inside larger ones? what a concept. with smaller moves inside larger ones. does that give more levels to trade? or a better setup within a larger move to enter? in some circles this is satanic.

Hey pedro,

I will really simplify it : target is 1250. Short term and longer term aim for shorts. All pictures posted above are bearish that you posted + at 1340 gold manipulators came in market so they will drive price lower further that is for sure. Ukraine could have some surprising up spikes but they will be retraced unless it goes to full blown war.

The only point is? Where do you enter with the best possible R:R to join the next move in the respective time frame. I am pretty sure that will help most people. May be I didn't explain myself properly.
I already know most traders know there are smaller moves inside big ones!!

no malice intended, you did fine. most traders know, just not all. some think there is only one direction. so posting indicated moves within and contrary to that direction is bs in those eyes. so the common theme among them is to burn the witch.

May sound too simplified, but it isn't: You enter at the edges, your method has identified for you.

I wrote a lot of stuff for a lot of people to help them leaving the baby-steps behind, and before you tell them, where to enter, you should talk about money management, so make the stuff you already have the second chapter, at least.
The first chapter should always be the part about money-/risk-management. If you see anyone skipping that chapter, you have separated the wheed from the chaff already.

People confuse trends with direction, the latter overrules the former!

I don't disregard MM at all, I actually see it as being more or so important than the technical analysis itself.
My point here was merely technical though.
