Be careful brother, he just said that the current level of exchange rate in the last months was because of foreign investors cash flows and interest to European business and investments and he closed that point saying that this interest of foreign investors dropped significantly in the last Quarter .

my takeaways:

1.ecb at the lower bound, no more rate cuts. (knowing this they didnt even cut 15bps which was an option and expected by markets)
2. "OMT has nothing to do with this" (with what was announced today) - This tells me we are nowhere near buying of govt bonds.
3.Realtively neutral tone. He isnt very dovish in his tone, which seems strange. Also not much talk about the FX rate



the mechanics of the actual polices are also somewhat debatable. SMP bonds are maturing in 6-9 months for the most part, so thats short term easing at best. Targeted 4 year LTROs will have to wait to see how big the take up will be, banks can borrow 3 times their net lending to households and non financial corporations. Households wont be borrowing hundreds of billions.... the tLTRO will be nowhere as big as the 3 yr LTROs in 2011 that had no restrictions on uses of the funds

Turkey and South Africa are heavily dependent on easing from developed market cental banks because they have large current account deficits. ECB easing would be a big help to their currencies. I think the ECB disappointed today so that is reason for TRY and ZAR to weaken. Taken in combo with a strong NFP tmrw, the two day effect would be sentiment moving towards a view of tighter monetary conditions in the two biggest monetary policy jurisdictions.

i have said earlier this week that

Ecb disappointment + nfp beat = tighter monetary conditions relative to what markets expected
