Hello All,
I've looked, but I can't find where FF explains what a shout is, what its function is, why it's used etc.
Can anyone help me please?

Kander,

I believe its intention was so you could show support of a fellow member.
BUT, I will be corrected no doubt by some ONE.

Hi Mark up, I don't know what a shout is, I was looking at that with fascination and transcendental wonder earlier this morning ...but I think you're right. I'm going to send you a "shout" now ...let's see what it does. Darran.

I agree with Lastingwell regarding the USD/CHF. Why bother to trade it with a current ADR of 41. Plus, it's about 85% correlated with the euro/usd (mirror image) when one goes up the other goes down, so why not just trade the euro/usd rather than the swissie. Same set-ups, bigger ADR, more volume and probably a smaller spread.

I've just received a shout from Mark up. Thanks. I was going to send a shout but it wasn't clear (to me) who I was sending it to. Mark up tells me that a shout is used to say something to someone. So what's the difference between a shout and a Private Message?
It's lonely here in the dunces' corner.

So you go to someone's profile page and fill in the shout panel there to shout at that person.

Kanderpro,

no mate, you are not alone look around you have plenty of fellow members with you in this corner.
I believe a "shout" is a message that you can place on a members home page/ panel. It's intention is to show support etc. You can control the level of security of the shout etc.
A private message is just that, for your intended recipient only.
Disclaimer, One again I say that I am probably wrong. And I will be corrected by some ONE.
The walls have eyes or ears or something.

And a shout is maximum 500 characters. So a shout is a short PM. Is that right?

I don't think I'm going to be losing much sleep over the difference between a shout and a PM. Then again, "They" could be listening to what I say in my sleep.

Thank you Mark up, IUN (I understand now). And yes Kanderpro, "they" just might be listening to your nocturnal mumbles. That's why my wife gives me a pacifier when she tucks me in for nighty-nite. Oh, and this just in... I checked my trades to compare the TMS H4 method at the same time EelFranz would start (10pm Pacific, or Noon here) versus strategic trades after the Tokyo close for the news, and the TMS provided better results in the end. Sorry I don't have charts to post because there were too many weird things going on here at the time. That made me feel kind of special.

Fridays tend to have lower volatility, so you may see more spikes in price or no real movement. Fridays before major holidays (like today with the US) are extra dangerous. I usually don't open any new positions on a Friday, except for the strongest of signals. Something like a strong candle at major resistance/support and some some fundamental news to compliment it.
