Some experienced SonicR traders must have had an "ah ha" moment during their learning curve. That moment of clarity where it all falls into place. Is it too much to ask for you to share what is was? Many times the key to unlocking the door of understanding is so elementary it is easily overlooked by the newcomer. Anyone care to shine the light? Hoping my humble request is not mistaken for laziness.

An Ahah moment is not quantifiable, it's an experience .. it's when everything suddenly clicks and makes sense

Good question and I can only answer for myself. Learning PVSRA has been and still is a "work in progress". I can't single out a specific "ah ha" moment, as you mention, but have experienced, during the process of learning PVSRA, several moments of finally understanding that particular part of PVSRA. If you break down what PVSRA is intended to do; 1) Analyze price bars 2) Analyze volume 3) Analyze price and volume relative to S&R (all simply stated), there may well be many "ah ha" moments as each is understood and mastered ultimately leading to putting it all together and then the moment of confidently trading PVSRA as a complete rewarding method. That may be your final "ah ha" moment. Click I Got It!!

A recipe can be specific or leave room for interpretation. That seems to be what PVSRA is. This is not a criticism at all. From the looks of it, PVSRA has something to offer and I plan on learning and being a contributing member of the team.

Cigarguy, wouldn't one wait for a climax bar first, before analyzing price or am I mistaken? Thank you, Cigarguy.

One other intriguing thought... is it easier to learn PVSRA if you are right-brained or left-brained? Visual or auditory?

There are 5 stages to becoming a successful trader. When you realize the mistakes you make, you are able to learn much more quickly than those who are ignorant and believe they are just "unlucky."

Truth of the matter is, WHY do traders lose money? If they ever took the time to analyze their mistakes they would learn very quickly compared to someone who just thinks inside of the box. In my opinion this applies to life in general, the only person holding you back is yourself. All other outside variables do not account for what YOU do in any given moment... how you react. Lets be honest... we all have visited other threads here at forexfactory, but have you really taken ADVANTAGE of the information that lies in front of you.

Before I started seeing real results of improvement I was one of those people who would hop around and try to gather as much information as possible.. I can say from first hand experience that this is very degrading to your success as a trader. The market is not easy. Everyone wants the easy way out. They will spend more time backtesting new indicators rather than forward testing a proven strategy. This is why you see so many threads get cluttered with new additions to systems etc. Go look around at FF, there are so many systems that stray away from the original system which in turn makes the thread a cesspool which breeds bad traders and bad habits.

I have A LOT to learn still but if you just focus on one thing at a time you will see progress eventually. The question is do you have the dedication to put in those hours?

I am a full time college student and still wake up to trade the entire london session. If you can find the work ethic to study as much as possible on the subject of PVSRA then you are on your way. Just remain focused! Eliminate your bad habits, and turn into an unconscious robot that makes money!

I think PVSRA is an art more than anything, you have to flow with and considering a few factors and in the final doing what you see and feel is right, and even then its not guaranteed, BUT..I havent had as much success with any other kind of trading, i dont feel like I have to watch a trade second by second, I know when i see what looks right I can place my trades and wait for it to do what it has to.

Dyekid217, thank you. I have read the 5 steps many times even before landing here. One can put in hundreds of hours and still not get it. Then someone comes along and makes an offhand comment that shines the light. Traders lose because of many reasons. We all look at the same chart data but we all do not see the same thing.

My humble answer is this; How many times have you seen a chart posted and different opposing opinions as to Bullish or Bearish? What I suggest is to study, learn and become proficient with the PVSRA method, as taught by TAH and then ultimately make your own trading decisions. IMO, yes, looking at different charts posted by traders using different brokers can be somewhat subjective seen by different eyes. (using your example; the cake can taste sweet to some and tart to others) Many times I have looked at my charts, especially also being a student of PVSRA, formed an opinion only to look at the same chart posted by another trader who pointed out an analysis and opinion that was contrary to mine initially that I did not see or understand. That is why we have this Sonic community here to help each other, but ultimately the decision of when to pull the trigger based on your PVSRA analysis is yours.

Thats why it is so important to focus on what YOU are doing. When you can make decisions on your own without coming to forex factory then you have graduated to the next level of trading.

The bad habits that traders have in general is what is holding them back. Plan your trade and trade your plan. Don't move your stops unless it is to set to breakeven. Learn to take a loss. Let the market decide what it wants to do.

You have a good point TooSlow,

Let me try and explain why it's an experience ..
It's simply that once you get to the Ahah point most of those little phrases you probably know make sence like:
- Cut your losses
- Let your profits run
etc

You can learn those by heart, whitout understanding what it really means ..

"MMs like to do their work near the whole and half numbers".... I have read this...repeatedly... but is that 0 - 10?, 0 - 20?, 0 - 25? any more and we are closer to 50!! Meaning no disrespect, but shouldn't one be able to define these areas with concrete numbers? Otherwise, it seems nebulous, as in unclear. One could retort, that I need to study more but what is the "what" to study? Thank you, Cigarguy. Cheers!

Do more reading and you will understand what the whole numbers are, half numbers, quarter numbers, etc.

I'll give you a hint..the whole numbers are horizontal and blue. No disrespect but it shows a traders work ethic when they come to a thread and ask the most basic questions.

There is no cutting corners in this business!

Yes, you dont have to be spending time measuring whole and half numbers, the lines are there for you ..and this is very important in my opinion.
