What's up with all the indicators...? Good reason for entering on the 3rd candle, should have noticed that, too. Maybe not strictly TMS, but PA is PA

I was wondering about that, too. When I studies charts from 2008 ranges were way bigger, then slowly everything watered down... I guess we are heading towards "paper money returns to it's real value - nothing" Slowly but steady


My 10am trades:
- GBPCAD - TDI cross and Stoch were good, was about half an hour too late, though. After ~16 pips it's bouncing from a double top (hopefully not soon-to-be-tripple). Leaving it be until 2pm

- GBPUSD - this one late 30 minutes, too :/ Perfect TDI and Stoch crosses near each other.

Looking at this setup again I see it was not a strong trading opportunity. The strongest bounce trades come after there has been a good move in the direction of the TDI cross the bounce comes after a pull back in the trend and then continues in the direction of the TDI cross. With bounce trades you rarely get the Stochastic in agreement with the TDI. Second Image

well my figuring is by 8am you can see more clearly what pairs are in momentum as london has already been open an hour. i did do this for a while a few months back , TMS original, and had some success but got deflated after some losses so didnt keep at it (bad i know) - as thats the whole point of demo, not to have continouous wins but to learn and study from the trades. see you still need discipline in TMS.

my UJ and EJ shorts didnt do well, EJ looked especially good, top of the 4hr shi channel and good candle size, second candle entry, also at a resistance zone as shone by the IISupdem indicator . Oh well.

Interesting charts. I noticed on EURUSD H4, that the long term moving averages were compressed (and compressing on H1) which suggests price agreement. This isn't TMS so my apologies for posting, but in my experience best results are when both sets MA's are widening out (the 'alligator jaws' are opening rather than closing in other words). Quite a few of the pairs are compressing at the moment, one of the exceptions being GBPUSD, which still has a strong upward trend.

The congestion is down to the Easter weekend, no momentum.

Personally I find it difficult to enter a trade when I see so many MAs that the market has to travel through before things go my way. I find Guppys are good for catching retraces in an already established trend.

TMS catches that initial move in the market the thing is you don't know how long it will last that's where the TDI helps you. When I first started to look at this, at the end of 2010, I got too hooked on R:R and was trying to let my trades run for 1:2 R:R and getting stopped out at BE or worse I see what Eric was saying now when he said to take what is being offered you can always re-enter a trade if it continues via a bounce trade.

This style of trading, especially on the Daily, will get you a lot of small winners and BE trades but you will also catch the big moves in the market, of course you will also get losers but that's the cost of trading.

Yes I agree, TMS is an aggressive strategy. Its funny what you say about catching retraces with Guppy's, during compression is exactly when Dean Malone tells you not to trade, but it can be the lower risk option!

I believe Steve that if we stick to Big E rules it pans out OK.

Yes he taught let winners run, but also said that when the trade looked like weakening, better to take some pips and re-enter later if you are wrong.

Sure, the R factor is important, but lets face it.. the market will give what it wants, not what we demand

Epilepsy party... But thanks for analysis and "heads-up". On the other hand, MAs are lagging and I imagine tightening should be normal now because of Easter. Same happened with TDI. Correct me if I am wrong, though. (EDIT: didn't see stevepatt's reply before posting)


2pm: I had to leave earlier and I wasn't sure when I'll be back so I moved both my previous trades to break-even+1 and set a 15 pip trailing stop. Got stopped really early on both.

A late entry, but a good one. Had I entered at 10am candle both would have been around 30 pips by now ("could have, should have, would have"). As it is - good entry spotted and no loss, could have been better but also could have been worse. I guess TMS and I still have some trust issues

USDJPY has been flat lining since end of January, so its not just Easter, but there have been a few TMS opportunities on the Daily.

Hi Gil,

I agree by sticking to Eric's way of trading can be profitable as long as we don't get hung up by R:R.

Eric could make good money because he was trading with full lots, he aimed for 50 pips a day ($500), if a trade went against him he got out straight away with a small loss he didn't just hang in there wishing and hoping it would turn around that's what trading with full lots does for you, you cut your mistakes short. He watched the angle of the TDI as the trade went his way and got out as soon as it turned against him and would re-enter if it turned back his way.

Like I said earlier trading this way you are going to make a lot of small wins and BE trades but as long as you stick with it, and don't try to change things, the big winners will come along. If you do change things stick with the change don't jump back and forth.

When reading back through the thread you realise how many different people have tried this system over the years it would be interesting to know how many of them have made it work for them. I get the feeling a new batch of traders come along at different times give it a go for a while and then move on to try something else because they aren't sticking around long enough to catch the big wins. I hope I stick with it long enough to see the big wins some how I think I'm going to be sticking around.

Steve I believe you are right and regarding the last part. When I first found this thread with a seriousness to follow it. It did not take long for me to change it, or add it to what I already had. I suspect many who have come and gone have not really followed the system.

It was only when Bizzzle post of 30 pips got my attention I decided to throw everything out, but try and trade the Big E way. Obviously not having his experience and even courage I use the channels as my support and resistance and trend. The other things on my chart like candlestick patterns are really bad habits caught here. Strange enough, I never consider them for a trade.

Let Big E have the final word

Guys,

When you talk about letting winners run, are you meaning to not close out winning trades at the 2pm Uk time Big E encouraged? I understand it's all depending on the situation, and a little more analysis. But hypothetically speaking, if you were in a winning trade at 2pm would you close it out every single time in spite of it looking like it could go further or let it run on?

PS Absolutrly no trades these last 2 days for me. Didn't feel comfortable with any of the signals on my charts.
