In this example I have put the indicator on the charts to show the entry if the default settings were used, not the ones I used. You can see that we are late in most cases, where the default settings, as shown by the indicators would have been sooner.

Thanks very much for the development and sharing of the new basket writer. I am looking forward to trying it.

I am sure many of us would really appreciate if you consider implementing the pending/limit order feature for ranging markets (basically exactly the opposite from what the EA is doing right now). One simple (I)nvert button would do the job.

That may be in the next version which I will be working on this week if no big bugs show up in something else.

Friends, I would like to suggest something to keep us out of a range. Still testing it this week though. But what I will try to do is to put in a 2 bollinger bands with 20 time frame and 1 standard deviation, and 2 standard deviation. When our candles are within the band made by 1st and 2nd standard deviation, that's the only time i turn on the robot to take trades (bands telling us there is a trend) and only turn on either long or short of the robot.
Of course we should put stop loss in case the price goes the opposite direction in case the ixo2 will be late in closing out the trade.

Since we are working on the 4hour chart with roger's settings, this would be easy to monitor also every 4 hours/new candle.

Hopefully this would reduce our loses during the ranging times. (when the price is within the ranging zones or in between the upper and lower 1st standard deviation lines)

good idea. hope this works as the range is a death sentence so far.
a range filter + sellers early basket strength should make this very powerful.

how about an option the take the suggested basket writer baskets as they become available and AUTO load it into an EA chart?
possible.?

this would fully automate the basket model to the most upto date trend basket

Wow that's great Seller! one question what is the CSSD indicator?

by default settings you mean the default settings in Template of V21 (aka Roger's settings) ?

I may have asked a lot.... I will watch the video first. Apologies in advance.

yes that is possible i believe to use the early strength basket then use roger's settings tweaking IXO1 and IXO2 for the robot to go long/short

Good Morning everyone,
I have been following this thread for sometime and i can't believe my eyes with the amount of excellent work done by Seller9 along with the dedication of active members. So i have decided to break my silence and start to positively contribute to the thread. I understand and completely agree that Seller9 wants this EA to use as less indis as possible. I came across the IXO indi and to be honest, i see it sometimes give us bad signals that could be avoided . I instead use an Indicator called Fishers . you can find it for free over the internet. i rely mostly on the fishers coz it has the following advantages.
the advantage of Fishers:
1. one setting of 17 for the repainting would do for any chart and any TF. that would make automating much easier.
2. It is less Susceptible to news and hence would produce much less false signals.
3. It can even show divergence as shown in the chart
4. It catches a trend way before IXO and also ends it way before it.
Problems with the Fishers:
1. the one that is doing excellent job is repainting. ( very bad news).
2. the non repainting version doesn't give us the same results.
How the problem can be solved:
1. since we have some genius coders over here, they may be able to do a better job in coding a better non repainting version of fishers. that way, we will end up having a one single setting for all charts and all time frames ( that's what we have been looking for in order to fully automate the EA).
2. If it is impossible to recode the repainting one to give us the same results, i would suggest using the non repainting version as our IXO2 coz it can prevent us from false exits.
i don't know if it is allowed to upload the Fihers in this thread, if it is please lemme know so i can share both of them with you guys.

from your image, the non repaint indi is slower to react than the ixo and the repainter... well repaints so no vote for me yet.
i hear your suggestion re: recoding the repaint version.

as for noise,
i swap ixo1 for the HA as HA has less noise
entry: ixo2 + HA
exit: ixo2

this is good when theres no range.

it seems to me (as i presume seller is thinking) that its better to find a new trending basket and trade that trend rather than holding a basket for a long period:.... trend, counter trend, range, trend again

Thank you for the fast positive comment on my suggestion. please think of the following:
1. The very strong positive strength about the Fishers is that you will end up having one setting not only for all baskets but also for all time frames. as a matter of fact, that's how i manually do it when i start a new basket. i open the offline chart, add the Fishers with my fixed magical number ( 17) and then add the IXo and try different setting until i get something very close to it.
2. Think about Divergence , in case you want to take a manual trade.
3. If some genius over here can recode the repainting ones to give even closer results then i guess we are approaching the wholy grail.

I love your entry and exit strategy so much and i am eager to try it this week and see how it goes. I also love the idea of trading only the trending baskets. really big waw.

This line right here is a big help already in finding out the best settings in the meantime that we can't use fishers yet

Hi to all, i just whant to express my opinion about basket trading method... I see that many traders looked for new or more indicators to have a good enteres and avoid the losses...but...the problem with idicators are the same, they all give lates signals...The ixo indicator and HA..this 2 indicators..are more than enough..you dont need new indicators, just need to find the best parameters, test them on the history of a whole last year, to determine the best tp and sl, and trade all available signals..thats all..

Seller9, I have been a "basket" observer since the T101 days, where I wrote some software for assisting in basket trading.
I have a suggestion that hopefully may help. The idea comes from a bit of portfolio theory. I never got around to writing something like it... maybe you would like to give it a shot. You have done great work here!

I worked with a fund manager to program some timing algorithms, and he really liked the idea of low "Beta" portfolios. He always wanted to create (based on history), the best performing, lowest Beta portfolio. Beta is a measure of risk. In the stock market world, stocks can be ranked by Beta which means its movement is ranked against the movement of the S&P500. If a stock goes up 5% in a year, but the S&P500 only moved up 2.5% that same year, then the stocks Beta is 2. If a stock performs the same as the S&P500, then Beta is considered 1.

I had written an algorithm to create portfolios that performed better than the S&P500, but had a lower than 1 Beta. The way you do that is with timing strategies... when you can make money both long and short. Which you can do easier in Forex than you can in the stock market (margin requirements, etc.)

I always wanted to port the same idea into Forex baskets, but have never had the time to do it. A forex equivalent to the S&P500 would probably be a "basket" of currencies. Then you could rank each pair based on various timeframe movements "returns" based on the universal "buy-and-hold" strategy from the generic "basket". Ideally, you want your timing indicators to react quickly to change in momentum and you want that momentum to be sustainable for the longest time possible. That is where "Low Beta" comes into play. Lower Beta instruments (or baskets) will have a tempered volatility and sustained movement. You may find that combining certain pairs will temper volatility (lose when invested in the basket), but assist in creating the environment that your indicators will be able to signal well to. The basket of pairs may not make any sense what so ever. But, the Beta and volatility control will help your indicators work better, thus more profit.
