What's interesting to me is that USD weakness has persisted even as global equity markets are undergoing quite a significant correction.

This could either mean that the markets believe this correction is just another temporary blimp in a generally strong bull market, or that the USD's status as a safe-haven currency really is losing it's sheen.

Main thing about this EUR rally to me, is the market simply doesnt care about what the ECB says. They've talked so much at this point that they have lost credibility. I remember a time they mentioned negative rates back in november and EUR dropped over 150 points. Now nobody cares.

Sets up a situation where the market will just keep assuming nothing will happen, until it happens and all the longs get destroyed.

Surprise is the name of the game.

unlike aussie and cable or loonie, euro often retrace after it has run one way for substantial pips. For long term play, I look at weekly and monthly pivot. If the price goes far away from the pivot, next month or week, it will come back to its pivot. If it misses once, it mostly wont miss twice. I have not seen the price miss pivot 3 times.

likely that European funds are dumping u.s. stocks and move money back to europe, or move money to u.s. bonds. bonds have been bought lately.

around 2007-11 when the stock market began to tank, euro kept going up for 4 months, while cable and aussie dropped right away.

Funny you posted this.I sport gambled for 5 years.Once went 50+wins in a row.Got to cocky and placed a bet on Red Sox at Kansas 0-2 down (at the time Kansas had the worst record ) Schilling Red Sox ace to start. Bet was 4 to 1 in favor of RS. I placed all my winnings all on this game
Result? Schilling got rocked and red Sox lost the series and the game.

This conversation come out a lot.Difference of gambling and Trading is you have a choice to get out anytime you want at 2% loss or 98% loss.
In Gambling once placed the bet you are in 100%
In terms of probability I believe fundamentals play vital roll.Those who disagree have not watched enough FOMC or NFP events.
I am not pro yet I have a job but that's my goal trade full time.

agreed but I also think that the Chinese bought so many dollars last month to weaken their currency that they're re-balancing their holdings now by selling that USD and buying EUR

Short 1 lot at 138.98. If it continues to go up, will add a lot every 50 pips until it drops. Longer term trades.

Targets 1.37, 1.365, 1.36, etc. (depending on how many lots I end up buying).

US data, starting today, is going to continue to look strong. Once stock market sell off stops chasing everyone into US bonds, yields will rise and the dollar will get stronger.

Also, ECB is going to have to ease in the next few months. Their economy is still sluggish and is going to be negatively affected by events in the Ukraine and decreased trade with Russia.

Don't see any good reason to be long EUR/USD over the next few months. Hope the market ends up agreeing with me.

Also think it's a good time to start building long positions in USD/JPY for longer term trades.
