I agree with your comments. On a confirmed breakdown this could be a longer term sell hold rather than a swing short.

I think it's the GBP that is very vulnerable right now. I have had a lot of the GBP crosses pegged as short setups based on COT data.

GBPUSD - Critical level now. My TF approach shows a 'buy the dip' call. But I am cautious.
GBPNZD - Looks to have well and truly broken down so will sell a rally a bit higher if I can
GBPAUD - At critical support trendline. This could be a real mover given the bullish COT sentiment on the AUD

I am still short GBP/CAD (got is a bit early to be honest) and its just been chopping around.....

I got in on the gbpnzd before the aud news. The pair tanked. It might be done tanking for today though hence I have tightened stops. I see a bit more upside for the gbpusd (towards 6850) before a major downmove. Let's see how this pans out

Great article. 'How are the mighty fallen ' comes to mind about America. At the same time is Ukraine worth fighting for in a way that could escalateto nuclear arms?

True....this is the key point IMO:

"A country which willingly gave up its nuclear arsenal... and received guarantees from the world's leading countries, finds itself unprotected, one-on-one with a country which is armed to its teeth,"

Ukraine were promised protection should they need it. Its a matter of are the US (and other EU countries) going to 'honour their word' or not.

If not they will lose a lot of face. This could prompt countries to look at what other promises have been given by the US and see if those promises have any merit at all? For example US Treasuries or the USD itself.

As we know this is a trust and confidence game. When these run out we hit trouble.

US Influence is on test here. And the first signs is that it is failing. If the 'US' cant turn Putin around here no other country will accept US promises of protection. They will reply 'Like you protected Ukraine eh?'
I saw an interview on TV where Obama was making a statement to the world and the new Ukraine leader was seated. The Ukraine leader looked like he was saying 'get on with saving us' while Obama seemed to be saying 'softly softly. please putin can you get out of Ukraine please'

I for one will not support war but I cant help thinking that Power has changed hands and its in Putin's hands

Like that one S buy both the rumour and the news. We have had a bit of a retracement it might be setting up to go down more. Gbp had a bit of a bounce as I suspected it would.
