For me its the constant inconsistency in movement between the days. Sometimes we spend weeks at the same area, only to blast off a direction in a single day to continue spending the next few weeks at the same spot. She hasn't had a proper ebb in flow for some time.

It's why I'm slowly moving towards futures. Already opened the account, demoing a little bit.. This is bull shit. Besides it mostly moves when I'm asleep... So once again, fuck the ny session!

At least commodities have some underlying value.. As I see it atm, it's pretty technical with very few random moves...

You got it. I've been meaning to do some dabbling myself in futures... price seems very consistent there as well. I've been eye balling ETF's for swing trading as well in the commodity world. FAS/FAZ TNA/TZA are sets of pairs to watch.

Algos and HFT are changing the market behavior. Huge volume of tiny transactions are squishing ranges. It will spread all over...to all markets ADAPT OR DIE !!

lmao. the ny session has been this way for a very long time.... best move to singapore so you get all the asia open, london open, and ny-london overlap during waking hours. in ny, you have to work night shift to be effective at fx.
at least that's how it is for me. night shift works wonders.
think about it, there's one USD, and a CAD (that moves sporadically and often low vol), MXN (if you trade EM, most don't due to expensive financing and high margin requirements), BRL (not available to most retail)
Europe has EUR, CHF, GBP, NOK, SEK, ZAR/TRY, HUF/PLN/CZK
Asia has AUD, NZD, JPY, SGD

definitely on lower time frames, market for last 6 years has destroyed lower time frame traders.

"adapt or die", agreed, get tf out of small timeframes, suggest 4hr or 1hr minimum, rest is just all noise and account fu@k&ing shit

My trading improved 3 fold when I got off of the 5m/15m. If you do play those lower time frames, you just have to know how to handle them and have the personality for them. There is no holding. It's jump in and jump out... going for 10-30 pips at a time.

Personally, I realized that is not my personality and can't stand it. I like trades running for multiple days. Except when it's like this. Because its been sitting still

yep agreed about low timeframes, to trade lower timeframes, is stressfull and unneccesary, need to use higher timeframes analysis to trade them also, higher tf over rides lower timeframe every time.

disagree about market sitting still tho, sideways market means equilibrium and time to be extra patient, but lower timeframes shows high volatility ping pong, great for range trading but useless for position or holding trades

I find one position on daily held for several days even weeks, destroys multiple entries on smaller time frames, stress is less, still have a life and account grows just as fast

I agree...the central bank won't let the eur/usd go to far past or even hit 1.40

and if it does it'll be for a short while all before it comes crashing back to 1.30....

I got a 32 lot sell limit order in them areas.....I'm banking on that.......baby.....................

This is why risk/reward is so important to me. Yes, if I have a play go bad on the H4/Daily, for instance, I will be looking at around (depending on PA and time frame) anywhere from a 30 - 150 pip loss.

That will absolutely devastate those 100 pips that took me 10 orders to achieve on the lower time frames. However, the expectation is that over time, the H4/Daily will give returns that pay out 100-500+ pips (of course, again PA/timeframe dependent).

It just looks brutal. That's why I separate the types of trades between accounts. Makes me not rip as much of my hair out
