Has anyone noticed the addition of the Olsen Scale in FF's economic calendar? it measure the amount of impact created by each release in every currency! this is such a useful tool for traders like us, going over the olsen website to dig in through their data.

I coded this EA to trade the news. It puts 2 pending orders one buy and one sell.

Also, it accepts a date time for the news release and keeps modifying pending orders price levels and SL/TP until the news are released to avoid pre news spikes.

hey dotnetfreak... for straddle traders...good coded EAs certainly offer some protection against crazy lightning fast whipsaws eg. recent AUD/USD whipsaw

Where are you looking? In the calendar of news events? Can't find an Olsen Scale..I must be looking in wrong place.

it's called the SMQ on the news calender, look for it in past numbers

Been using a similar straddle for several weeks...Decent success...Still need movement or its not as effective.
Still tweaking the Gap Order, SL and BE and TS
On the AUD GDP today it triggered my buy went up about 7 pips then reversed and my SL got hit.

So I've noticed another thing, like the AUD; the CAD has a very clean and more volatile reaction with USD related news especially the NFP and it makes sense because our country is very sensitive to US related news as our economy is very tied to it.

did the EA automatically move SL to BE when it was in profit? if so, then thats not too bad for a whipsaw..

EA did its job to defend your account.

My BE was set for 8 pips which it does automatically so it was only 7 pips up, then reversed and hit my 12 pip SL...

I backtested the EA and it stopped because trailing stop with profit.

Seems the EA is not calculating the TP correctly.. anyone can help me spot the bug?

Well, today hasn't worked out for me. Various mistakes made, the straddles did not work due to low movement after news and slippage, so, now we wait patiently...

Hi Dontnet, thanks for your work on the EA. In light of what I have done, this might actually help me. However, I could not get it to work for the GBP PMI. I had the smiley face etc, but the EA did not place trades. Am I missing something? Sorry, I am a technopeasant...
