It is simple to put a stochastic on a Monthly, Weekly or Daily chart, and say something is going to go up or down.

But, it all comes down to timing your entries and exits. That should be the main focus for the vast majority here.

Hello,
open EJ trade atm.
All signals looking good for a buy. All 3 stochs coming from oversold, "mouth open".
TVI, CCI, T3 and GHL on m5 looking also good.

Atm at BE+2 Pips, waiting for exit now.

Edit: What do you think about to put the SL at low1 (white line in chart)?
Stoch m15 and m30 still looking very good, only m5 is a little bit stalling.

Edit1: Closed trade at BE+2, I think it was worth a try to take the CT. But Stochs m15 and m30 still looking good.

Hi Murksler !!

And another opinion is... it is NEVER worth taking a CT trade.

Haven't taken one, so far this year, and exceeded my profit target, every single week.

There have been on EJ alone, 3 trend trades today, each time, with over 20 pips.

Sorry to labour the point.

But I find it absolutely fascinating why new/beginner traders try CT trades ?

So, take today, fabulous volatility, many, many big trend trades, that are yielding big 20 - 40 + pips per move.

All HPT trades with solid Genesis signals.

Why would anyone consider a CT trade ?

I know from my own experience early in my trading career, I tried for months and months, thinking, I could be clever and pinch CT pips, because I knew all about trading, and my system was awesome and capable of picking up pips all over the place, BUT never took the big trend trades.

So I would pick up a few pips here and a few pips there, then a big stopped out loss (exits are tough for experienced traders, VERY tough for new traders).

Not quite sure why I wouldn't take the big trend move, might be the volatility, might be questioning is this the trend move or a fake out, unsure of my system, because I changed it every other day ??

Determining trend seems an easy thing to do, but when, where, and more importantly why did the move start ? and when to get in ??

Also, the key aspect of "laws of probability". When you already have a great system like Genesis, once you have spent a considerable amount of time studying setups that yield decent trend moves, just keeping hitting the button, and rewards will come.

Then you will have completely forgotten about CT trades !! I promise !!

hi marty, it is really well said!! I have taken notes on this. but may be it can be a damn trap for newbies, I still can not help to take the same trade as murksler did. and the result turns out to be good, and if without your reminding words, I would definitely consider the CTs are worth trying. after your speaking, I will really have to rethink everything now, are they really worth it?

I promise you, unless you are an exceptionally talented trader, making a living from trading by scalping a few pips here and there, and missing out on the big trend moves, is virtually impossible.

You will here RJ talk about R/R on his trades, he monitors it religiously (as do I), unless you are getting good returns on your trades, you will fail, Guaranteed

Not able to trade the early euro session today.

Managed to grab some EJ action after NY open.

Wasn't able to sit at my desk watching the screen so I set TP at BRN and came back home to +68! (A little late on entry)

M15/30/60 stochs all rising, M15/30/60 TVI all white.

Absolutely correct Rooi.....up until yesterday, my trade count has been well down this week due to the crap PA. Yesterday was much, much better in terms of PA though. and consequently better trades, both in number of trades and number of pips.

I read on another thread of a trader who used to post here but no longer does, that he has been getting "massacred" by the GJ pair over the past few days. That's what would have been happening to many people and the banks will be loving it. If there is no trade....then there is no trade!!!!

After being stopped out of 2 trades in a row due to choppy PA, it's time to sit back with a coffee and see what caused this. If the chop continues.....drink more coffee and keep your money safe....for as long as it takes for the PA to settle down.

After 2 losses due to the choppy PA I gave up on GJ and EA for a while. I found that AU was much smoother, so I traded that pair. Yes, the ATR is less, but all I need is 20 - 30 pips to keep the account growing...it sure won't grow if I persist in trading what cannot be traded!!

Patience is the Holy Grail.....yes it is!!

Yes, there's a lot of truth in what you say here Marty. As I was saying the other day, CT trades are not for the inexperienced., and it shows a lack of patience I'm afraid.

I do take CT trades from time to time, but I'm pretty careful to not post them here because I don't condone CT trading unless you have been doing it a while.....and even then, it's still better to trade with the trend.

I the problem, as I see it, with CT trading is that if one is successful, then the trader will do it again, and again, and again. If strict discipline and a very good understanding is not employed, then soon the trader will be taking any trade that comes along without regard for the trend....and that will be the beginning of the end for the account!!

I know several people here DO CT trade when one looks like a profitable set up....and these CT trades are quite easy to spot, but I'm not going to get into that because I think that will come in time as the trader gets more experienced. What's really good is that the people who can pull off good CT trades aren't showing them here, so no one needs to concern themselves with the idea!!

Just trade with the trend....it's always best. No point in swimming up river, no?

I just noticed.....22,000 posts!!!!!

Great to see people taking the banks money! It takes time to learn Genesis, as with any system, but those who put in the time and effort will succeed.

The lazy and stupid ones will just be cannon fodder for the banks.....and we will take their money as well

Great to see the thread in a chugging along harmonious mode -- hopefully I am able to return soon and post some trades. I have been keeping up reading and learning, it is good to see new posters. I am happy to see my favourite currency pair has been on strike while I'm not trading -- GA hasn't moved much since the 12th and been in death trap mode.
Back soon......
