I mean, I don't trade during the news and prefer to have all my positions closed during the "red" news releases. I'm with IG now, so far so good. I'm only 3 years in Forex so I work just with one pair EJ. Spread is 1.7-2.5. The highest I've seen it during the news was 5 and it only lasted for 1 or 2 minutes.

GPB/CAD H4 sell +200 pips TP finally got hit while I was asleep. I don't have this pair on my monitoring platform, I executed it on my phone (so no charts to attach). There was an IB at 1.8400, I entered below it and TP got hit at 1.8200.

My E/NZ sell TP 1.6500 got sliced through, I was half asleep while I set it. Didn't look at my MAs and MBL to determine TP, which I would've set at 1.6450 or even 1.6400.

Still in on G/J, G/U sell, also G/A, G/NZ, E/J... Many other pairs with good trading opportunities but too much is too much even for demo.

GBPUSD H1

THE DARK SIDE OF NEWS ....

I took 24 pips profit with 1/2 position before the news and placed the stop on B/E.
A huge slipage turned my 24 pips winner into a 0 pips roundturn. Unfortunately my stop on B/E for the 2nd 1/2 position was filled by -24 pips.

I've read a lot of bad things regarding Oanda and spread. Not the best platform to trade during increased volatility I've heard. I know a lot of longer term traders (position traders even) use it for some reason. FXCM tends to slip a lot, I've tried that too... Alpari seemed solid but spreads were too uneven. You have 2 pips on EU,GU, 3,5 on EJ and 7 on EA, GJ and so on. FXDD seems good so far.

Traders_Dynamic_Index .... Realtime or not realtime version?

Look at these charts showing bothg version captured in realtime.

What is the difference seen in realtime?

But when you refresh the charts, both will look exaclty the same just like the TDI Realtime version.

You decide.

Looks almost the same to me. Btw I didn't know there are 2 different types of TDI

I have used Oanda for a couple of months now and I can confirm they are notorious for their ridiculous spreads during news. I just use their platform for monitoring and ocasional trade just to attach it here. I execute all my trades on an ECN's (java) platform which I'll use also when I go live.

Quite a few false breaks along the red dotted line now, on GU H1, with the TDI hooking back on the last candle. Think this is one of the 'head fakes' Big E alluded to!

If you back test, it's important to know that no matter how dilligent you are and how many "ah ha!" moments you have, forward testing is whole different animal. For example you see a cross and enter and eventually your trade fails and only then you see TDI refreshed itself so that there was no cross.
