Oanda broker timing is way out of the other broker timings. i trade on oanda but platform using other brokers.

Many thanks for these.

I finally got both of them up and running. They key (as has been pointed out earlier in the thread) is to rename the WebInstall folder, otherwise terminal.exe downloads the build 600 terminal.exe and metaeditor.exe files into that folder, and then overwrites them in the parent MT4 folder. (This happens even if you change the build 509 files as being 'read only'!).

In case this is helpful to anybody (probably not, as I must be one of the few Windows XP users remaining in the world!) I found the WebInstall folder thus: c:/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/MetaQuotes/WebInstall

What I find interesting is that these MT4s do run (I was able to create a fresh demo account, and enter orders, on each platform) despite there being no Windows registry entry (since the mt4setup.exe installer was not used).

Glad that you still have a build 509 to work with.

@MrPip: looks like our programming careers are similar. I started in 1979, after leaving high school, on COBOL and Assembler. Anyway, agreed, build 600 is a complete shambles. If I didn't have a build 509 running that allowed development and testing, I'd be tearing what remains of my hair out.

Hi guys,
I have question about new build MT. In my the latest build 509 my script function ok.
But on upload build after 2014/02/03 no function.
My script reading file symbol. sel.
Do you know anybody if exist any change format this file, please?
How is structure this file?

My advice to members who have not yet made the download MT4 600 - don't do it!!!
The two machines on which I haven't made MT4 600 Download operate stably. I have another one where I wanted to test this new Vladimir's BS
- and this is now fully infected and unstable. MF Vladimir attacks not only active platforms, but also those that are offline.
600 new MT4 platform burdening abnormal CPU and generally have a feeling that Vladimir and his KGB spying on my entire computer.

I have both builds 509 and 600 running, and I don't think the file structure has changed. There is a 4 byte header (probably a type integer), followed by a 128 byte data record for each instrument that's offered by the br0ker. The name of the instrument is stored at the beginning of each data record (e.g. AUDCAD is stored in the first 6 bytes).

The code you've posted makes sense: skip the first 4 bytes, then read the next 12 (to get the symbol ID for the instrument), skip 116, read 12 (symbol ID for the next instrument), skip 116, etc etc until the number of instruments (determined by subtracting 4 from the total file size, and then dividing by 128) is exhausted.

Both of my brOkers, pepper and think4x, luckily still have 509.

I dread an unwanted 'update', how can I prevent it from occurring? Already have copies of 509, but I would like a first line of defence.

I take it that renaming the webinstall file is only appropriate after the event, what can we do now to prevent an 'update'?

Thanks: I make 2 screens. How you see, code reading correctly the first item from Market Watch (USDCHF..), next item are hiero-char, but for item i=32 is symbol reading again correctly... I don´t know where is error... :-(

Does anyone know how to get around the SendMail function on the new Build 600??

On Build 509 my EA had no problems sending out emails but it wont work on the new build.

Keep getting this error:

Mail: 550 Sender Domain Invalid (VM420)

Does anyone else have similar issues with sending out mail within their EA??

That's how they did it :

1. After failing to forcefully install the Version 600 in the last week (because my
virus alert went on) they did it today.

2. they sneaked around the virus guard by renaming the archive (which contains the
new versions of the MT4-software) in a file-type ".png";which is a file-type for
IMAGES/PICTURES !

3. after that they renamed it back to a file-type for archives: ".zip"
and then extracted the files contained in there.

Try it: rename the file "../WebInstall/mt4clw.png" to "mt4clw.zip" and you end up
with an archiv containing the new "terminal.exe" etc


You will only be able to do this (as a non-user) by using the old version MT4-terminal.exe
to rename a file on YOUR computer and extract "some" new files(and copy them to their new
destination).
So they used the running old version (a piece of software that we "trusted" in) to do
this task.


They acted like a trojan horse and of course without seeking any prior permission from the
user first (that is us idiots !).

How can you ever trust a company again,that is doing such things ???


They showed that they do not have a bit of conscience (just to push the new version),don't
need much imagination what a big hole is opening up (in your pc security),when they (or others)
exploit this for other reasons...
What would be next ?


Don't rely on Windows(whatever version) security either...


Just speaking for me,I would be grateful for a piece of software that is running under linux
and comes from a company I can trust.

Any ideas ?

there is a way to getting around this . first , install the 600 version , then copy and replace the 509 files with the 600. one thing is critical for this to work , your terminal.exe has to be the 509 version.

Hi,
it is related to SMTP server you use, I guess. I was experiencing the same issues with e-mail alerts with gmx.com SMTP. I don't know if there are some others that do not work no more. I did some research and finally found another working one with build 600. Try yandex.com, it's free and works fine.

In the new build there is functions to access the available pairs (no need to handle the file).
Function SymbolsTotal(true) will return number of symbols in the market watch, and SymbolsTotal(false) will return number of all symbols.
Respectively, function SymbolName(<number>, true) will give the name of the symbol in the market watch at position <number>, and SymbolName(<number>, false) will give the name of symbol at position <number> from all available symbols.
Try this script to print all available symbols on your platform:

Thanks. I have since found a way around this from another thread which might be useful for others with similar problems:

- download the HowTo document & it will explain how to do it. Essentially means you need to set up a mail server on your own PC. Abit long-winded I admit.

- But I have got it sending to my Gmail account & from there i can forward to another address.

Im guessing Build 600+ is now stricter than 509 & won't tolerate shoddiness. lol!

Well,thanks for your suggestion,but I am afraid that will not change much...

Since I still have to deal with Metaquote Software Corp from that point on.

I am pretty sure that their next step is to disable all the old version 509 installations (as they did already with some older
versions in the past).

So,I am contemplating returning to full manual trading again (in the absence of other alternatives)...

My indicators all screwed up by Build 600. I have to write again. Today I download the Build 604. The indicators working in 600 do not work again in 604. Please pay attention!

I just got off the phone with FXDD customer service.

They tell me that there are very few complaint calls about this mt4 "upgrade"

He firmly denies that they have been getting any more calls than usual about mt4.

How is this possible?

What are they doing?

Is no one calling?

Really?

He says that there hasn't been any need to talk to metaquotes because they don't have a significant volume of complaints!
