GBP news trade at 10:30.

Because on 10:27- 10:28 before news stochs was flat in OS area i decided to not open trade, wait and see PMI reading. It was good decision because few seconds before news price made hoola hoop up and down. When i saw worse PMI than forecast i entered short

UK Services PMI data is highly unpredictable, and because Services is such a large proportion of the UK economy, it is effective a insight into future GDP readings, therefore to volatile to trade.

All economic news releases are categorised by their respective level of importance.

Broken down into Tier 1, 2, and 3.

Tier 1 - Central bank announcements, GDP, CPI, jobs.

Tier 2 - Retail sales, PMIs, some CB speakers, etc

Tier 3 - all other

Its not mentioned here much, maybe because the southern hemishere traders dont have to deal with multiple tier 1/2 news releases.

On trading days where UK, EZ, and US have multiple news releases like today, trading on these days is incredibly difficult.

Pre-news pops, moves suddenly stop, as the market prepares for the next news event, make trading exceptionally difficult.

Today we have US ADP at 13:15, then US Services PMI at arounf 14:00, then more PMI at 15:00.

In all 7 tier 1/2 news releases.

So on a day like today, I am only scalping.

Does no one else pay close attention to the news ???

To be honest, I'm just trying to stay away from trading when there are high impact news, and mostly I use FF calendar. I'm very bad at fundamentals
That's why reading your posts on news are very educational for me.

Same here after that "update" yesterday. The alert window shows "Genesis: Error" ...

And there you go, after the last news release for the day, we get the nice pop in EJ and GU

EJ actually popped pre-news, then slight retracement, before news pushes it onwards !!

One could reasonably expect the update to perform the following procedure correctly. Apparently, it does not.

To run old indicators that do not compile successfully in the new version:

  1. Find the MT4 data folder:
    http://forum.mql4.com/60555
    See point 3.
  2. Locate the 'oldindi*.ex4' files in where ever MT4 stores them: "..\experts\indicators\". The file date stamps will be prior to the update.
  3. Locate the newly compiled files in the new "..\MQL4\indicators\" folder. Make a backup copy and delete both the 'oldindi*.mq4' and 'oldindi*.ex4' files.
  4. Copy the old *.ex4 to the new "..\MQL4\indicators\" folder. Do not copy the *.mq4 files. Make sure to get any other required indicators/files.
  5. Restart MT4

Programs that generate offline charts will not work without being rewritten and recompiled:

Some programs that call dll's with string parameters may not work correctly without rewriting. MT4 now uses unicode strings. It previously used ANSI strings.

Dear all,

Thanks for all of your info.
FYI to all - tried opening metaquotes this morning and it failed. I noticed TWO terminal.exe files on Task Manager..................so I closed one of these files and all was good. So if you are having issues.....maybe have a look there first.
