Just wanted to say that IMO there is some excellent info in this thread. Some months ago mim2005 and I developed 3 trend-following EAs that backtested profitably over 6 years worth of data (more here), and the most profitable of the three is the one that uses similar entry levels to those outlined by Seneca_pilot in this thread. (We're currently in the process of re-hashing and re-testing the exits).

Actually if you want to get it correct, I put it up once and made 37%. I then did start another one which I promptly messed up by taking some experimental trades in it. I made one more attempt at putting up a clean and still took trades that I did not want to show. I resisted doing the explorer from the beginning because I used my test account (none of you will ever see the big one) and I actively test all the time. The losses in the test account were from testing new things and were not connected in any way with my actual trading account.

Now, having said all of that. I don't personally give a crap whether you think I am profitable or not.

Unless your trading style is one where you chase large runners for a substantial portion of your profits, you will make more money by taking the entire trade all the way to the exit.

So what? Why the hell anyone has to prove anything to anyone around here I've got no idea. The guy has given everyone the same information out of the goodness of his heart and cops crap for it. As Turveyd said, no good deed goes unpunished on FF and it's complete garbage. No wonder many of the excellent traders around here that have wanted to give something back have disappeared, I don't blame them one bit. It's ironic too as the people that drive them away are more often than not the same people that need them the most.

Anyone with an ounce of brains that found the information attractive on this thread would go look for themselves and see if his methods make money and yes they do, consistently. If anyone can't make profit out of the information offered then you're either bone idle or blind.

I thought trading forums might be different than horse racing and poker forums I've been involved with for many years but nope, same trolls, same people wanting to be spoon fed. Very sad as it turns a great place in to somewhere not worth visiting as all the great minds worth listening to disappear for very good reason. Wonder what the spoon feeders do then?

I don't think 60minuteman need any help. I don't believe he is idle or blind. And he certainly don't need to be spoon fed.

You see, here we go again. Who said Minuteman needed help? From what I've read around here in the last 8 months I think I've worked that one out. After 20 years on forums I've got a few categories for people I come across and one of them is wanker, you are very quickly approaching that one!

It's not about whether he is profitable, who f........g cares! It's about the info he's given and whether you can put it to good use. This isn't a dick swinging contest or at least it shouldn't be. It's a place you come to learn, not be a bloody keyboard warrior!

Over the years I've seen great forums die a slow death because they become low knowledge based and somewhat irrelevant, the irrelevant noise is overwhelming and eventually takes over! I have seen numerous comments on here in just 8 months that this place is not what it was and this, after checking the profiles, was from old time members much of the time. This is a familiar story unfortunately and your initial post above annoyed me. You see, it's irrelevant rubbish if you come here for the reasons this forum originally intended, to bring traders together and learn. I haven't looked at this forums mission statement but I'm sure it doesn't include finger pointing, dick swinging or a million other irrelevant negatives.

Sorry if I offended you, I just tend to speak my mind.

I really don't care whether you, or anyone else thinks I am profitable. What I do care about and show up to defend against is when people with an agenda or an obvious lack of testing of the method make assertions that the methods that I use to trade and pay my bills won't work because they don't fit with the poster's view of how trading works.

Trading is personal. I always stated from the beginning of the thread that I was presenting my thoughts and methods for others to test and personalize. I had hoped that would happen.
Here's what happened..... roughly.

1. Thread is started
2. OP lays out concepts
3. People like and thread starts to get a little buzz
4. GOOD LOOKIN reads and subscribes
5. OP roughly outlines a simple trading plan and says don't use it unless you test it
6. GOOD LOOKIN tests it
7. GOOD LOOKIN thinks if this works like this then other variations are possible
8. GOOD LOOKIN tests his idea
9. It works
10. GOOD LOOKIN is forever immortalized in the "Test It For Yourself And See If It Works" Hall of Fame
11. GOOD LOOKIN ignores the whiners
12. GOOD LOOKIN wins

I somehow missed your post and the one before. The higher (weekly etc.) Work fine. You do have to have bigger stops, bigger targets, and lots of patience. That last one keeps me from moving up in timeframe. I cut my teeth on fifteen minute charts and probably will make my last deathbed trade from a fifteen minute chart. I have found myself migrating to more of the express trades because they provide more predictable times for entry so it is easier to reduce the screen time without sacrificing too much profit potential. The express either sets up at the appropriate time or it doesn't. If not no additional screen time is needed.

Thanks for sharing ur trading journey. From ur first post, it seems that u have attained success quite fast, in about 2 years plus. How long did u take to have a sizable account before u decide to go onboard full time? Ur story has inspired me as I have a young family and aspire to go full time once I am able to achieve consistent profitability. It would be good to share more about ur trading journey. Sorry if u have already answered this before.
Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.
I have a question Chris if you don't mind helping. You will see from the attached chart that price has just bounced off the monthly low but it's only about 12 pips from the daily open. Would you disregard the daily open and buy at the bounce or would you wait for price to break the daily open? Anyone trading the AU news this morning would have had a ripper of a trade. Employment figures came in about -22K and down she went, 112 pips in just over an hour, very nice. Cheers.

A few thoughts on this.

1) I normally take the first level hit for the day. I
2) The biggest level is most important (monthly over daily)
3) When there is a major news event like employment numbers I generally ignore levels and trade the news method (nfp trade). Major news events will eventually hit a level that will turn price but I am not smart enough to know which level that will be.

Ordinarily I would always say take the first level hit and manage things after that but major news events must be handled carefully. Thia answer is hours after the fact and i don't trade AU but if i did i would have traded the number only.

I lost money for years before I figured out that this easy living was hard and I needed to actually learn. I did reasonably well investing and trading in stocks. When I decided to try futures I got killed. If took several years to figure this out. My methods weren't the problem. My mind was what was my undoing. Everyone is different but for me it was ten percent mechanics and ninety percent mental.
Did you trade the GBP news today Chris? Text book bounce off the previous day low on GJ and monthly low on GU and up she went. What was it between the two of them, 320 pips? Message to self: Just because you don't trade Fridays at least look at the bloody news! Trading might be simple but hard but both those trades were no brainers, easy pips.

I never cease to marvel at the following "traders" attract at forums, in 99.6% of cases it is mere marketing (talk, typing skills, delusion), there is no substance to the claims

SP may or may not be the hero you think he is, but i guarantee one thing, if a "trader" wants to teach you and at the same time gives you every excuse under the sun as to why you cant see his/her performance statement, then i guarantee they arent the hero you think they are

and when you see a statement you want to see at least one year of records, on a good lot size and within sensible risk parameters

in 7 years i've only ever seen one such account........ONE!

Ideas were presented, most important thing SP said is go figure it out yourself, no claims of "I will teach u to make 1mil$" were made. As far as I can see this thread is not in commercial section so all this whining about statement lately is completely ridiculous !
