actually germans want the euro at 1.5. netherlands are comfortable with 1.4 and french want 1.3. all southern european countries want it below 1.3. now ecb is in dilemma but the cheques are written by Merkel

The Germans are an exporting nation - how/why should they want a 1.5 €?

Are you sure german wants 1.5 EU rate or any of their blabber commented on it to confuse traders? German is the 2nd largest exporter, why they need strong euro to hurt their own economy?

ECB has two parties to fight with: the Fed and the Japanese Central Bank.

I think Federal won't take unnecessary risk by moving the pair more higher to reach 2 pct inflation target. If the pair rise above 1.4 then Federal cannot control it. BOJ cannot help it if Fed and ECB aiming the same.
