Good day traders. Thursday's EU trade failed with 1% loss. Having this in mind and my more or less unsuccessful period from this year's August, when I managed to only drift with a slight loss on the monthly basis I decided to finish my trading for the year 2013 while still having some profit for the year. I wish all of you to stay safe in the markets during the last days of this year! Will be back in 2014. All the best people!

Good day traders. Yesterday's USD/JPY short goes as planned. Second TP @ 104,20 has already been hit. 100 pips of floating profit at the moment. Position is still active with no changes. Next stop @ 103,92.

I see you're back already! Good luck in 2014 mate!

On my list today, GBPUSD for shorts.

P.S. If anyone is interested why many traders had a troublesome period in the late part of last year (including me!) check out the rolling median of AWR and AMR range fulfilment. While you'd normally expect an average of 90% to be filled in 50% of the time this probability holds true for the entire data set. However, there are periods when this 90% is way under water.

Monthly timeframe, most of 2013 is underwater.
Weekly timeframe, since August you can see it dropping. Now correlate these 2 timeframes and the result is that swing trades that look for weekly and monthly targets will struggle to reach their targets.
On daily timeframe it happens too, but it goes away much faster, so account draining is not as prolonged as when weekly and monthly timeframes contract.
The lesson here is that we should be aware of volatility dropping in recent data for the larger timeframes.


The charts are for EURUSD data but the other pairs aren't usually far away.

TP1 for AUD/JPY order is @ 93,44. Don't like what is going on at the moment here. SL to b/e or full position close if/when TP1 will be reached.

AUD/JPY: got a chance to exit almost at the entry price so I did. Enough of can and mouse game. Small, 5 pips (0,1%) loss on this one.
