the correlation filter is another superb idea.
with both filters on we would indeed be cherry picking our baskets every single day of the week..very cool.

BT_CS_v3

Here is the next version of the BT_CS indicator, the EA interface is not finished yet but I thought I would give you a chance to look it over and give me some feed back. The changes from version 3 are:

1) Sort pair list from strongest to weakest.
2) Added Correlation filter after the Strength Basket.

All calculations are done on the time period of the chart it is placed on, remember, this is an indy and it goes in your indicator folder and it requires a live Pair chart with ticks to run.

You can input your Correlation Value in the settings, this is a percentage but is represented as a decimal, so 0.80 is 80%, don't input anything larger than 1.00, which is 100%.

You will also notice the 4 major pairs listed near the top of the indy, these are the default correlation pairs and can be changed in the settings. What the indy does is scan through the Long or Short Basket list and looks for one of these to use as the correlation pair, if it doesn't find one of them it will use the first pair in the Basket list as the correlation pair to compare all the other pairs in the list to for the next list. So if there is a pair in your basket list you want to use as the correlation pair, enter it as the first pair (pairC1) in the settings.

The pair that is being used as the correlation pair will be colored "Sky Blue" in the list.

I have to run for now, hope this is enough info to get everyone started, as always any input is welcome.

There are many different ideas out there on how to calculate correlation, so if you feel the present calculations are not correct and you find a better formula please let me know, that is something that could be changed.

To become a trader, you have to put in some effort on your part. if you new to trading, to be frank with you, this thread is just not where you should start from. If, you want to, then you have to put in time to read and try to do it on your own. There is no sppon feeding here!!

I will be testing the indy set up to interface with the EA this week with version 8 of the EA (NOT RELEASED YET) so don't ask where it can be downloaded.
If all goes well and it makes it through the week the next indy and EA versions should be available next weekend. For now I am just testing it on the H1 period with the 2 offline charts and the EA with defaults, as shown below.
One thing the EA does is "LOCKS" the baskets in the EA so they don't change while the EA is active on the respective offline chart, you don't want the offline chart jumping around as pairs may be added to or taken away from a basket as the EA could get very confused. I know some of you may want to add and remove pairs from the basket as a trade moves along, but then for the EA to see what is happening you should really create a new offline chart after each change and then you would need to reposition your TP and SL, as the whole scale of the chart has changed. I don't see any point in trying to make the EA do that, that is where the 6-12 inches between the ears comes in to play.

These 2 baskets are fairly small, but you can always adjust your lot size if the idea proves itself, and besides, you also have a smaller spread with fewer pairs in the basket.

I know a few of you want to jump right in and start trading a new EA before it is ready to be released, but I will only release a new EA or a new version of a present EA or indy when I feel it passes the smoke test, so no need to ask, I don't post any junk.

I spend hours just watching an EA before I release it to see if the changes I have made at least work the way they are suppose to, if I were to release it without testing it first, I would be getting all kinds of questions as to why it is doing something that it should not be doing, sometimes because it was installed wrong. By not releasing it ahead of time I get to test it in a controlled enviroment that I have contol over, I don't want anyone blowing out there demo or live account because of some piece of """" that was released before its time, I also don't release any code, only the ex4 file. If I use someone elses piece of code in an EA it is stated so in the EA code and I will tell you where to find it if it is public domain. Most of the EAs I write contain nothing new, but may be just presented in a different way, anyone who writes code should be able to duplicate these ideas on their own, Google is a great source of information. Please don't send me any EA or Indy that has been decompiled, I treat it as a theft, I don't want them and I just throw them away, just as I don't want mine decompiled and then end up on E Bay. What I have is free for all, by giving it away I don't have to support it if I don't want to, all I have to do is vacate the forum, LOL.

I have created quite a few EAs in the past that never made it past the smoke test and were never released and ended up in the trash can.
I get requests all the time to create EAs for a "SURE FIRE" idea to create an EA that will make us all rich, but when put to the smoke test 99% of them fail. Also if I decide to create an EA for a trader I always inform the individual that I will post the EA when completed for all to use, most of the time I never here from that person again. Past charts and backtesting are great to show how rich you would be, but I have never seen an EA that can "GO BACK TO THE FUTURE/PAST" and make money.
All any of us can do is create something that helps to cut down on the time we spend in front of the screen and maybe make some money.

Above all, please read the thread before asking any questions that have already been answered many times.

The last page of a forum is not the place to start, it may be the place to look to see if a forum is still active, but not the place to just grab the indy or EA and throw it on a live account, although, the Brokers just love that type of newbe, it makes them richer.

Here is an entry that has been running a few days now, as you can see I haven't upgraded to version 7 yet, need to wait for this trade to end, will see if it hits the TP or not. As you can see the HTSL is not active so the SL is still at its starting position.
This is a case where I just let it run and then I can see where I need to change my settings or rules to be ready for the next trade.

Display Error:

This is just a display error I just happen to see when looking at the post with all the time frames on it, the pair that is high lighted in Sky Blue should be high lighted in the second column, not the third column. This does not effect in any way the way the indy works but the display is wrong.

I have downloaded the latest version of the BT_CS indicator and both that and the previous version were giving me error messages:-

BT_CS_v4: invalid handle -1 in FileClose and:-
BT_CS_v4: invalid handle -1 in FileFlush and:-
BT_CS_v4: USDJPY-,M15: ArrayCopySeries function internal error

There were only a couple of 'Long' pairs (NZDUSD & USDCHF) and one short pair (EURNZD) all of which were showing a value of -2.
There were no confirming pairs.

As this is my very first post I don't think that I can post any screenshot just yet.
