I know about his calls very well. He can change call direction on the same day.

How does one go long and short on the same pair?

If you are short and then buy long, doesn't that just close your short position?

they use two different accounts and call it hedging.

To me it is just the same as closing the position or part of the positions.

You can be short on weekly, long on daily and short a couple of times intraday if you want to.. Can be different trade sizes with different targets, s/l etc... Is that hedging? no idea.

Can you do it in the same account? If that has to be done in two different accounts, then the longs in one account consume leverage, and the shorts in another account consume leverage too.

It's just my habit to cover all angles and directions. Imagine I was long and short in eur/usd today, I would have made a killing. Today I had short with some straggling longs. I didn't take on more to trade because I didn't like eur today.

Not with US brokers. I understand that's against the rules. As for margin consumption, that's a minor inconvenience . The less money you have available to risk, the less money you will lose.
