{quote} Well, now as I can see how the EA is working, it would be better to trade only maximum 2 pairs in such a small 200 USD Account and not 8 pairs. I was close to "margin call", so it could be necessary to restart with a new account here We will/shall see , Dietmar

Unless the lot size is penny start, 2 pairs on 200 is looking for a lot.

But, benefit be yours. You have taken the time to test and learn on a Demo account with a small initial start. Where I find a lot of folk going astray is running these on a $10k account for demo, and then unleashing them onto a $200, thinking they will gain the same.

You've made and proven some very good points when working with these, Dietmar.

1. Test them in a demo environment until you understand the logic and risks involved.
2. Use a realistic dollar amount, a value that you could afford to lose in real money trading.
3. Test several pairs to see where the best results.

Awesome Job!

Exactly.
Another suggestion is to open a demo account in the same broker you will use for real. This way at least you will have a feeling of how good is the broker is in terms of trades execution.
Thanks.

Maybe it's due to the timing of my setting-up this account, or the broker, or the pair selection, I don't know, but the equity curve to date impresses me. Great job, Magix.

I'ts been less than a week, so we'll see when things get rough...

6% Drawdown is actually not that bad.

Perspectively speaking, not as good as El_Kabong, but at the same time...end of this week, I would bet that there'd be a lot of people wishing that they only took a 6% beat down on their market week.

At a risk of 1% per trade, which for some is the rule of thumb...

Really only equates to 6 bad trades.

Spread this over the next month and appreciate that for the last 2 weeks, I have seen some damn decent gains, while this week, just seems unfortunate.

Check through your stats.

Have a look for your all star players. Apply the methodolgy that Pirate has used in one of his testers, and see if next week can be better.

This really is only the beginning of the Christmas Season, only really week 1 on the bot.

In a game of patience, it's only a matter of time....

Yes, no worries, it wasn't my intention to complain. One week isn't long enough to test anything at all, so i know the christmas bot will be a longer term experiment.

I never actually took it as a complaint, but a very valid assessment of the situation.

Really, ya do have to wonder why one account is lively in green and the other has blood in the streets...

All things being equal, and appreciating that there will be some discrepancy between brokers n such...you would think that they'd look at least a little similar...

Getting passed that, yeah...it's grid trading.

If you have thoughts, questions, issues...please do not hesitate to mention them. If I have the ability to change, adapt or modify, I will.

The bulk of the changes I have made to the original code, have come from posts, not unlike what you have posted.

EURJPY has had a bit of a runaway week. I have seen these before and know that they can make an account look sad.

But it does bring up something that has always been a bit of a concern for me, working with the grid traders.

Have a look at the 2 charts posted. 1 obviously running with daily trend, while the other, not.

Loss is greater on the No Daily trend as there are a lot more counter trades left open, but look at the Daily Trend one. We need a MASSIVE retrace in order for this one to come back home.

With that being said, a certain appreciation must be given for the use of both strategies and working with them combined instead of leaving all in one basket.

Just thought I would point this out...

Magix, from your expierence, what would be better, to close all open positions at friday evening and start "fresh" at sunday evening (market open asia) or to keep all trades open over weekend?

The thanks goes out to all of the members who have been able to send a little out to those in need.

Surprisingly enough, there are some of the names on the list that aren't working with the Christmas Bot and have no intent, but still wanted to join in the efforts.

Our hearts go out to all of those that are suffering.

On my personal accounts and it really depends on the situation, I typically like to have all trades closed for the weekend.

For testing purposes, I just let em run.

Christmas Bot has daily trend set to true.

Meaning, once the daily went long, it won't cost average shorts in anymore.

The daily trend restricts these additional trades.

@Magix,

Although the cases are limited (77 closed trades in 3 days), am posting a summary for those who may find it interesting.

Thanks again Magix and have a happy weekend,

I do some of the same type sorting, not quite as pretty as yours, for a similar type analysis.

This is the best way to build your Dream Team!

Check the overall and who has dug the biggest hole and continue to build.

Yes, a few days is a relatively small fragment of time, as long as you appreciate that some weeks will look like this and some not so much and are able to apply the sample size to your logic, you stand a grand chance at not only prospering from your efforts in automated trading, but will also be able to apply this in a live trade scenario.

Along with this, make sure you are having a look back at the charts to see where the EA was doing well and where it started to get in a little deep. Not so much on this week, but in future, this will be crucial in your understanding of price movements according to the system we are trading.

Absolutely a fantastic example of a look back on the week!!!
