Cheers folks, yes, but I can do wonderful trades too! It is a missing something that really is frustrating and I just can't find it yet......still....I have some great ideas and a good setup computer wise and better still, the time to put in. It is that unteachable something.......I wasn't bad at school ........promise!

Now, the reason I asked the question is this...there are many people who may think 'others are making 40 - 70 and I can't do that'. Well neither could I, or Marty or anyone else without doing the 'hard yards' first. It's the same when you learn to walk...you learn to crawl, then you take a few steps, and gradually build up to running. No one can show you how to run the 100 in under 10 seconds.....that takes time and practice and practice and practice. Same for riding a bike, swimming or anything else.

Trading is the same.....once you understand the system, you have taken your first (very wobbly) step......and that's all. You haven't 'cracked' FX trading at all (if that's possible).....all you have done is take the first step. You ARE GOING TO FALL OVER...and skin your hands and knees.....that I can promise you. When we started to walk, we had bruises and grazes on our hands and knees all the time! Same with trading.....our accounts may go 2 steps forward and one back......one step forward and two back.....three steps forward and two back etc etc. That's the learning process in action!! That's also the painful reality, and that's why we trade with a small percentage of our account balance....because we want to try again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day. If we blow all our money on a few trades, we have lost our 'stake', and now we can't trade.....or continue the learning process.

So....as we have been saying, preservation of capital is of paramount importance.

But all's not lost, there is a way to become modestly profitable and all it takes is 10 pips per day and....the holy grail of trading....*patience*.

A while back I was given a spreadsheet to work from, but it didn't quite suit my project. PM1 has kindly modified this for me earlier on this year, and I was going to start on the project in August. However....the best laid plans and all that....due to many factors (changing brokers, Mums eyes etc) I have been unable to start it until now...and now I'm not going to start it until January so that I can make this next test for the calendar year. So in January I will start the project and give updates on progress from time to time.

However, I want to share with you some 'do-able' facts and figures....firstly revolving around our +10 pips/day.

* The project will start on January 12 2014.
* The daily target is 10 pips.
* These figures allow for weekends, but not public holidays.
* These figures do not allow for withdrawals
* These figures do not allow for negative days (or less than 10 pips)
* These figures do not allow for bonus days (more than 10 pips)


The 'lot size' is determined by the account balance. So eg

Account balance = $500 then lot size = 0.05
Account balance = $600 then lot size = 0.06
Account balance = $700 then lot size = 0.07
Account balance = $1000 then lot size = 0.10
Account balance = $1200 then lot size = 0.12
Account balance = $1800 then lot size = 0.18
Account balance = $3500 then lot size = 0.35
Account balance = $6000 then lot size = 0.60
etc etc etc

So there you have it.....this is based on just 10 pips / day.......and most people can do 10 pips / day!

Yes, the figures don't allow for losses or withdrawal......but they also don't allow for days when you exceed 10 pips......and that can happen easily as you have seen Cold_W do recently

We don't need to feel sad if all we made is 10 pips......and we don't need to feel like losers because some people got 130 pips and we only got 30. Who cares?......30 is heaps!!!!

If you can do 10 pips/day, not only are you going to make a huge profit at the end of the year, but by the end of the year, if you check your actual average, I bet you it is better than 10 pips/day!!!

Now.....before I shut up and go have some coffee and chip away at the first PDF.....lets repeat the same study as above, but this time based on 30 pips / day.

This is something very hard to explain or teach. I guess it just comes to trader who is committed and patient enough.
It took me a year to start making very modest profit with the system. And I know it'll take another 2-3 years to start "walking" as RJ put it.

Anyways, you're very lucky because you can actually meet RJ and talk to him about your trading! I wish I could have just a brief meeting with Master RJ!

Been away from the thread for a bit, for me I would be a "qualified" yes ... the qualification being, when I'm doing things properly.

Hang in there Jamz ... I only recently seem to have turned the corner (and still need to prove my consistency to myself over a decent timeframe) ... but I think RJ's analogy to learning to walk is a good one.

Great Kosmo, that is so apt, I have been recalling a gold fever story just like that this week that an older guy told me and a mate when we were teenagers and we were ready to head off into the south Island bush to go goldmining the next day! That seam of gold is just there -- don't give up!

Account is still there - I seem to be able to keep at a level and not wipe out - I believe that is a step in the achievement of success.

Yes, I am privileged to be sure but just to say, the charts are the same, the advice is great but here on the thread too, optimism, humour -- so I'm guessing it's the coffee and caramel creams you're missing out on. I do imagine our chartered cruiseboat going.......somewhere with good trading hours that's for sure!!!
