I believe you misunderstand. The concept of "expected value" implies that it has been factored in the current price already. It is a "higher than expected"/"Lower than expected" value that will cause a logical response from the market (rally if good, drop if bad).

The high probability way of trading the news is letting the market choose its direction. Let the dust settle. Trading the news is not so much about what the data is, good or bad, it is about how the market reacts to said data, be it good or bad. The reason why it is so hard is that we get the information needed last, by the time you read the value, your charting software has already printed a marubozu... By the time you make a trading decision, market could be already pulling back, causing you to enter at the peak or bottom of the spike. As such, it is highly unadvised to trade news releases, especially the more volatile ones, such as NFP or conferences.

Hope that cleared my previous post up a little

The only thing that could cause a sudden reversal on pairs like GJ, GBPCHF etc. would probably be a strike on Syria, imho. Otherwise a period of consolidation is needed before a new trend.

Did anyone notice the divergence on the H1 EJ an GU?

Not been able to trade much myself this week but they were two great trades on the H1 confirmed by the TDI in my opinion.

Should have been a good 50 pips on each pair if entered correctly on the M15.

What are peoples thoughts?

Does anyone know of a TDI indicator that alerts a trader when the TDI indicator's green line reaches the 68 and 32 TDI levels? This would greatly help to warn of impending reversals.

adding VSA to TMS will make it into a not simple system to trade.... too complex for beginners traders.

VSA is interesting and has its own merits how that can be used in trading.

Actually I was watching EUR/JPY as I have spotted an ABCD pattern off the 30 min chart, since I don't trade the 30 m chart, I just practiced noticing ABCD harmonic moves, this moves works flawlessly

since yesterday i have been studying on how to make S&R. real a lot whole day. as i have started to grab the basic concepts i have realized that they are more powerful than pivot points. i was initially trying to trade using the pivots but could not make a successful trade. i think soon i will be able to produce good results. thank you everyone here at TMS.

LONDON — Trading by central banks and sovereign wealth funds account for less than 1 percent of the $5.3 trillion (3.40 trillion pounds) a day FX market, while smaller and regional banks make up nearly a quarter, a survey showed on Thursday.

Trading by central banks is seen by most FX traders as highly influential, mainly because they tend to deal in large amounts at a time. However, their impact may be less than many think.
The Bank for International Settlements' 2013 FX survey showed hedge funds and proprietary trading firms made up around 11 percent of total FX trade, while institutional investors - such as pension funds and insurance companies - also comprised 11 percent.
In its survey, which is released once every three years, the BIS for the first time provided a breakdown of counterparties classed under "other financial institutions".
This segment overtook "other reporting dealers", or those that trade in the inter-dealer market, for the first time in 2007 and now makes up 53 percent of total FX trading.
Non-reporting banks - usually smaller, regional commercial or public ally owned banks - made up around 24 percent of the market. These are clients of large FX dealing banks but do not engage in market-making in major currency pairs.
New data in the 2013 survey also showed 16 percent of dealers' global FX transactions were conducted by a prime brokerage.
Trades of dealers with retail customers, either via electronic margin trading platforms or through so-called 'retail aggregators', made up 3.5 percent of global FX trade.
FXCM, one of the largest providers of electronic platforms for retail FX investors, said its total monthly retail volumes were $366 billion in April 2013, 66 percent higher than in April 2010.
The average daily retail volumes on FXCM was $16.6 billion, up from $10.0 billion in April 2010.

Took one EU H1 trade following a break of the LO candle above the Frankfurt candle. It was a risky trade since the TDI green had not crossed over the red and the yellow MBL was also above the green and red. My TP was barely hit before price reversed.

I am also demo trading gold.....there have been some nice moves during London but my broker in the USA (FXDD) does not allow leverage trading on gold. Gold trades are 1 to 1 leverage....so a standard lot is $1 instead of $10. When I trade $1 lots, I would be earning $1 per pip on a standard lot. No leverage also means that my account balance must be substantially higher to enter any trades. The spread is normally 5 to 60, meaning my cost to enter a trade is 5 to 60 cents per trade. Trading this way gives me a little different and interesting perspective of the market.
