I have done that before, but only to hedge event risk. If my core holdings are still entacted as well as the overall trend no problem. You just have to know how to manage it

I may understand so called hedging when you have position on higher TF and scalping on lower in different direction or even same, but what you are suggesting here is not trading - just admit your trade is bad and close it, why play with diff. volumes close little by little if you can just close and wait for oportunity to do it right (less time and more profitable)

Please speak no more. Trading is a science. Either you understand it or you don't. He is referring to an "imperfect" hedge. See, traders have agendas. I could be long a particular currency long term, but hedge out event risk or geo-poly risk if I was in crude and such while still maintaining a core portfolio.

You think investors toss a stock because it's down $1-2 buck in a short-term period, no.

BTW the "example" you gave is not hedging.

don't worry about it... he probably missed what I wrote in red.... I gave all the trades this week, documented with reasons.. and they still say this is not trading.. then I don't know.. whatever...

i will just close part of my position and load back at better price. it is the same as the described hedging.

Well, eh. I get what you're saying. Hedging is just offsetting your risk with another asset. It doesn't necessarily have to be the same one.

both london and new york closed eu bearish on wednesday .....thursday asia eu is up 50pips..if i a may ask what is eu daily range...100-150 pips?................if you have any long position i bet u should watchout....

that is the key point. For example when you trade the stock market, you have to long some stocks and short some stocks to balance risk for market up move and down move. You long the stock that goes up a lot when the market goes up, and short another stock at the same time which will go down a lot when market go down.

Mehn, the 4H chart has given me a clear signal of a fantastic uptrend, but if the daily candle follows suit by tomorrow, we are going to see a new yearly highs as early as next week. That is just my humble submission

no but I didn't look into it either... looks like you can get a reuters terminal from them, but I didn't ask... as for models, my opinion is they are for algorithm trading.. for machines, not humans...
