for all distros, the kernel changes and stuff are controlled by the Linus and his group...
bootloader hands over control to kernel which looks at the rootfs to load the right files to run..
so essentially thats the main difference between version/distros of linux.
Personally i use debian and command line more for work and my personal computer is a macbook..
it is highly likely that i'm wrong... so dont follow me!
