Does Windows still employ paths like "Crogram Files" containing spaces in eg. Windows 7?

Yes... drives me absolutely crazy. I know, I know... a space is just another in the long list of characters... but seriously... wtf.

Prevents me from automating data import. I have to delay that by around 15 seconds in order to first copy the files to a workable location. SUCKS BALLS, Steve (Balmer in this case).

Without knowing the details, please allow me to recommend one of these solutions:

Create a link from the folder were you have the files to another of your choice: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTFS_symbolic_link

Install a light web server and configure it to only accept local connections (ip 127.0.01). Then you could access the files using a web adrress

Personally I used first option when I used windows time ago (dark ages)

The delay is way faster, the import is done via shell-scripting. The idea is okay for one pair, one timeframe. I'm doing that for 29 pairs and 3 timeframes each. The data has to be handled in less than 1 minute.
The copying from the invisible .wine-folder and the sub-ordinated Windows-folder-structure works. I just thought, I could prevent the delay somehow.

can't you just create a directory shortcut - named what you like to address the same directory with the duff path?

If oil goes up over this Egypt thing (Suez canal and all that), U.S. economy might start hurting, hence more QE etc. etc.. back to square one.

You can always install cygwin and write a bash script (and run it with 'at' regularly) in which you simply protect the spaces with "". I don't know how big the files you are copying but the delay should not be more than a fraction of a second. HTH.

Perhaps Steve (Balmer) is not to blame here, but the wine implementation. I also have my war with wine cause I cant save files from MT4. For EA testing and other messing aorund with indis I use vmware with a windows xp which gives me less hassle.
