U/J will decide this week and G-8 summit will help this decision. There is a tough area especially between 93.74 and 92.50. Moreover Abe wont give up his policy. So I think retracement is over.

usd/jpy price is shown as 95.07. are these the weekend rates. I know forex market is never shut and open on weekends as well.

this failed to put in an hourly close below 94 last week...but it is looking like it wants to try again today

We will see some major changes today due to, Building Permits, Core CPI m/m, Housing Starts, probably yen will get weaker today regardless it last week moves.. & things will remains same till Friday..........

Now I have just read something quite concerning, depending upon your view. From a report on Reuters:-
The yield on the benchmark 10-year JGB is still very low both historically and compared with other sovereign debt.

But it has jumped about half a percentage point from the record-low 0.315 percent reached the day after the BOJ unveiled its radical plan to double the monetary base over two years to achieve 2 percent inflation. At one stage in recent frenetic trading, it reached 1 percent.

The plan's rationale was that the intense burst of monetary stimulus would drive down interest rates, as the central bank bought an amount equivalent to about 70 percent of new issuance each month.

Instead, after a brief tumble, rates began to rise as banks and other investors sold JGBs, worried they were holding assets that would lose value as the promised inflation emerged.

So the Japanese govt. is unable to sell enough JGBs because nobody wants them, apparently. This is massive money printing, IMHO, and that has never had a good outcome - although the current global situation does not seem to be overly worried about it. Is this the forebear to a monetary collapse? If so short-Yen seems the only way to go. Sorry Jaygee......

this is starting to look like another "the lid is off" moment... a G8 meeting, everyone agreeing that "Abenomics" is a great idea and .uj is starting another run-up. if it parallels the last 3 times, we're gonna be up 250 - 350 pips by noon tomorrow...

sometimes it looks as though these G8 attendees all open long .uj positions before the meeting and then go around talking it up to anyone in the press who will listen!

another way of looking at the near 10 figure fall of .uj over the last 3 weeks: it was a chance for japan's private and public sector to get good prices on imported commodities (eg. oil, steel, minerals and other industrial raw materials) that the country needs to operate. price (double-) bottomed out around 94 where most of that stuff was probably either purchased or paid for. there wouldn't seem to be much reason for foot-dragging on the way back up to beggaring their neighbors (aka: fighting deflation).

it is also interesting that discussion of "abenomics" in japan us now coming around to industrial re-structuring. that is to say capex. the conditions to carry that out (taking off-shore goods and services) have been just right in the past week: a strong yen. maybe there's a connection.

another thing: the nikkei and .uj have been tracking very closely the past weeks. now, the nikkei is floundering as .uj marches up a rising trendline... ignoring its twin.

.uj double bottom around 94 is probably it... i think japan is done shopping and they're ready to see that weak yen again. so, longs may soon be comfortably above water as we head back toward 103 --- no need for .uj to get jammed down again.
