Folks, I am fishing for opinions, so don't flame me with "go through the thread'. On a live $3000 account with the EA let loose on 12 pairs what would be the ideal lot size? Thanks
Ignored
Hi Shiva

I find 0.1 lots for 3.000.-$ account extremelly high. I think 0.01 is a more realistic size in order to not get a nightmare when a DD period comes, and it will come IMHO.

Cheers

khaled ctg, which EA do you use for your trade explorer account "set it and forget it" ? d1 20ema & 50ema ? third screen EA ema ? or third screen strategy d1 macd ? Thanks for all your work
Ignored
Its a kind of managed account testing in the DEMO. The basic strategy is Third Screen Strategy. The account is managed by the EA itself. The EA is the other then the EA posted here. The original EA is being tested by 100PipsADay and the trade explorer is linked with this forum.

Thats a good Point butt..

Thought also about Correlation respectively working this way when i choose my D1 entry's vs open trades in my own system, but you have to have in Mind. Pairs that are correlating at D1 often behave completely different if you switch from D1 to H1
and here we are searching for entry's in H1. So it could be counterproductive to throw out some Pairs only because they correlate in D1. And its a difference if the correlate 70 % or 85 % and the correlation changes often.

D1 Pairs that correlated last 3 Months about 85 % switch and go away to 60% or - 40 % and start to behave completely different for months. More analysis on that would be needed before thinking about.

Anyway, who wants to go deeper into correlation, myfxbook provides a great analysis tool for that.

I dont know why but i cant post a link at the moment ?!?

Edit: In a quote it works..

Hi Amir,
Its a bit complicated for me. I just want to make the system KISS (Keep It Simple Smart)
Let it be decided by the Strategy. If criteria meet then we will go for Long or Short. That is enough for me.

Regards,
Khaled

Hello Claudia1, Is this live account in the US with 50:1 leverage? Also, you're closing trades out per certain criteria and not letting the EA run continuously, right?

Thank you Claudia1.

{quote} Not using the ea live yet, Going to do so from the third week of June. So 0.1 x 12 = Net 1.2 lots. Thanks Khaled
Ignored
That depends on your Max Positions setting. If it is the default of 8, you actually have the potential for 0.1 x 12 x 8 = net 9.6 lots. Huge difference. That lot size is way too large, in my opinion. 100Pips uses 0.1 lots per position per $100,000 on a standard account. The equivalent capital needed to trade .01 lots on a standard account would be $10,000. For a mini account, it would be 0.1 lots per $10,000, or .03 lots per position for $3,000, which is what I am trading on my demo. I fear that some of the folks in this thread are going to be crying in their beer when this market really turns around because of their super aggressive trade sizing, i.e. GREED.

{quote} You might want to put on the daily PSar indi with either 0.02 and 0.2 or 0.03 and 0.02 and compare the entry and exit on the daily chart. I have been watching this system for some time and these PSar entries and exits produce far better returns. I don't have an EA to prove it but just add it to one of your longer term demos and see how the entries and exits compare. In my opinion, far superior. dr

Hello Droland,

You're talking about using the PSARs for entry and exit meaning that whenever the PSARs reverse you close the current trade and take the reversal, right?

Thank you Droland.

Scott,

Agreed on the account size / # of trades possible - keeping the default at 8 trades per pair would look to be ovetrading unless you reduce your lot sizes or you can afford the loss. However, with the results posted to date and the effective hedging that is occurring, the risks seem to be mitigated.

It will be interesting to see how the respective EAs perform in a market that ranges more. Currently 100piips has disabled all pairs except for the jpy pairs, which looks to be a wise move with many pairs overextended on their current trend runs.

Hi Folks !

I have modified my EA settings :

TP = 320 pips for all pairs
SL = 160 pips for all pairs
Max trades = 5 for all pairs
Number of pairs : 13
Max. exposure : 13 x 5 x 0.1 Lots = 6,5 standard lots

It's all based on a 100K Demo account.

I think its a good compromise between catching the long term trend and the shorter outcomes !

Just my 2 cents ;-)

Whats your opinion ?

Happy trading

Bernhard

A demo account I've been running with the EA without intervention since 5-13 started out with a $5K balance. I set the lots to .10 and the account is now over $9K. The account is trading 21 pairs with the default EA settings.
