Genesis Matrix Trading

Last trade of the week. Given that the market has been dead for a few hours since London close, was still able to squeeze another 20 pips out of the market. Running total today +200 pips. As you can see, the trade was WITH the higher TF trend. You can see all my trades today, as I have posted charts of all. I could've probably still squeeze more out of this trade as it is aligned with the higher TF trend, but it's very late Friday, markets pretty much been dead for a few hours and I don't like to keep positions open over the weekend.

This high time frame issue is one I have been trying to tackle for some time and did post earlier about.

There have been discussions about HTF confirmation of trend and Marty and RJ have contributed about it more recently again.

I accept that it is only with experience one can identify accurately, the higher time frame trends, almost by just eyeballing the chart. However, to make it objective, I am looking at a few things:

1) Day, H4 charts: for levels of support/resistance, candle stick patterns, trend lines. These charts need looking once/twice a day.

2) H1 chart: to look at in the morning and again from time to time, but definitely before major market open times. To note down if there is a trend in H1, if so, the direction.

3) For H1, H4 trends: I have added ASCTrend MTF to my charts recently. I am not going to take any trade against H1 trend as given by the ASCTrend and most of the time not against H4. Any counter-H4 or counter D1 trade is CT for me and if entered, due precaution will be taken. There will be no counter-H1 trade at all.

4) Once H1 trend is identified, actual entry is according to Genesis/stochastics as per post #2. Consider DP/S1/R1 etc as per usual. Not to forget BRN.

This is my plan for backtesting during the weekend and to test out next week. Majority of my losing trades were/are the ones taken against the dominant trend. I am hoping that I will be successful in filtering out those losing trades with the above plan.

Hopefully, one day I will be able to tell myself confidently that if I am not seeing a setup/trade on the chart, that is because it is not there! Wait until what I need to see appears on the chart.

I recognise that what I have just written has been already discussed here multiple times before. I suppose I am writing this post just as a memo for myself.

Very kind of you to answer so promptly. I think the stage I am in is: I know what I need to see, I kind of know what it looks like. But it is correctly identifying when it (the set up) is there and to differentiate the real set up from the wrong one (quite simply the one that does not fulfill the entry criteria).

I suppose this is what experience is all about. I am trying to be as objective as possible with my criteria for entry, what RJ called "pre-flight checklist".

Yes, this is going to be an 'RJ rant'......get over it.

There seems to be an influx of newbies lately, who not only can't trade, but also can't read. Let me copy and paste this from Post #1 for umpteenth time:

"PLEASE NOTE: This is not a system for noobies to FX trading. Do not come here asking and/or expecting to be shown how to trade.....the experienced traders will not show you any mercy!! Instead, please go to babypips/school and do their course. It is free and it is extremely good. You will learn much there."

Yet......we are getting people who consistently trade against the trend, and we get people who have to ask (more or less) 'which way the trend is going'....and 'which trend are you meaning?'...etc etc

Look, let me be crystal clear here, my posting history will show that (mostly) I am very tolerant and helpful to the many questions that asked here....even asked several times, which is extremely annoying to say the least. However, I'm going to draw the line, here and now.....the above pasted quote from Post #1 will apply very strictly and those who do not belong here, and I can tell from the questions, will be referred to babypips/school and then will be excluded from this thread.

The very fact that these people who clearly know very little about trading, let alone how to trade, are actually asking these questions clearly shows that they cannot, or will not even bother to a) read the 1st post and b) investigate and see if they can find the answers to their newbie questions 'out there' on the World Wide Web. It also shows that they are inherently lazy and just find it easier to post off topic questions rather than take the time to read and learn about trading.

This is NOT a thread for those who know nothing about trading. There are other threads for that, and I have given a link to a great place to learn how to trade that will explain everything to you, including 'which way is the trend'. Also, spend $10 and buy the book in my profile....you'll learn a lot.

This is the last warning......I am soooo sick of people not bothering to help themselves.....LAST WARNING.

And.....just in case some of people are going to cry about this, another trader, who 1 year ago was struggling, came to the thread, learned the system and quietly got on with learning, investigating, testing, refining and practicing, is now doing very well indeed.....in fact she beats me most days and is going to buy a new car with CASH. I'm not going to tell you the posters name because she hasn't given me permission to do so, but she is one of quite a few people who are doing very well. All she started with was the tools you'll find on Post#1....and she had a determination to succeed.....and she has done it with no stupid questions to the thread. How did she do it?........just as Marty said the other day, she researched her questions and found the in depth answers that gave her much more knowledge than is possible to gain reading this thread, which is about the Genesis Trading System.

So, to conclude, questions about the system will be answered either by me or one of the other people who understand the system, and there's plenty of those people. Questions that are answered on babypips/school will not be answered. Instead, that person will be direct to babypips/school.

Enough is enough......

@ RJ, yeahh hmm, hmmm, you know my mine about the thread, after a while we go tired to read again and again the same question...

Hi all, I have been a fan of Genesis for a while, I use the higher timeframe indicator to help, I have isolated this one indi for newbies to look at, this is to be used with all the other Genesis indis

just as a guide, use 2 timeframes, 3 TFs or 4 TFs....!!! Hope this helps...

My apologies RJ. I shouldn't have encouraged a fellow 'beginner' in your thread. I understand you and the others frustration, but i actually thought padila's questions were well formulated, and i forgot that this wasn't a thread for learning. When reading alot through a forum thread i always tend to feel 'at home' a bit to much I love the book you have recomended, and it has already opened my eyes to alot of things(currently at page 255) and it gives some nice tools to use and questions to ask oneself when making a trading decision. I hope you also understand that we are not trying to have you guys spoon feed us, but it's more about trying to build some confidence with our trading. At the least that is how i feel!

I'll go back to lurking in the shadows again until i feel i can contribute constructively to the thread...

How much do you need? I have only one goal is 20 pips per day, if I have more, I will take it to my pip bank, for the days when I don't make pips. 20 pips a day is more then enough.

Hi RJ, I just want to thank you and say that anyone who has hammered out the basics of trading should have no problem turning a profit with this system.

Less is best the first reflex is to add all our favorite indicators and make it better but this makes a different system.

Imagine you decide you want to fly you start with a small Cessna 172 or similar learn the basics practice then upgrade but with Forex there’s no rules not only you can jump right in a fighter jet, as soon as you sit down you start changing and adding gauges (Indicators) then you take off in a plane that a pro would have trouble understanding.

Most of the time it’s the trader that needs to change not the system, this is one of those times.
