I may be wrong but I suspect the confidentiality aspect goes with these transactions as they do with tie ups generally...a sort of industry practice in a competitive market. Non-disclosure agreements are routine commercial arrangements for a whole raft of commonsensical reasons in any event.
The road to pipland is arduous and fraught with challenge.

Alex, if you have a look at this link: http://corporate.ibfx.com/News/IBFX-...dity-Providers you can see that IBFX had no problems announcing that J.P. Morgan Securities, Bank of America, Citigroup and Goldman Sachs were / are among their liquidity providers. Divisa Capital is another brokerage that openly advertises their relationships with Bank of America, UBS, Barclays and others.

So, can you explain why these two firms do not have to sign non-discloure agreements but Alpari UK does? It's not as if I am asking you to disclose details of transactions, you and I both know that most retail trades don't go anywhere near the interbank market, I'm asking where your prices come from, a perfectly reasonable question I would have thought. I can only think of two reasons why you cannot or will not disclose names of liquidity providers - either your firm is embarrassed to be associated with them or they are embarassed to be associated with Alpari. It makes no sense at all that other brokers can be transparent about such matters but Alpari cannot.

You haven't really told me anything, except that the institutions which provide you with prices do not want it to become public knowledge that they are doing so.
(I have no idea what nail has been hit on the head because I cannot read that particular member's posts)

Never mind, I guess I'll either have to live with that fact or change brokers

If you can get to trade the news just by reading the candles, thats the way to go as decisive movements can occur before, during and after news breaks and one is more in control. It can be done, so perservere. After that, the news become another event of whose timing one takes mere note of.

I don't imagine there is any great conspiracy in terms of the clauses parties use in transacting. They invariably choose clauses appropriate to their circumstances and context. You would need to speak to your party in a non public venue to discuss these issues in depth given the commercial objectives that lie behind these choices.

In fast moving markets you will get a lot of requotes on a standard MT4 account (or at least that has been my experience with Alpari). On the other hand, Alpari's spreads don't ( again, in my experience anyway) widen anywhere near as much as Oanda's during the news. You could perhaps try their ECN account. I closed several positions shortly after the US retail sales figures yesterday and had no problems at all.

Probably best to wait for a response from their representative though, as I can't speak on their behalf so I hope I haven't offended you by jumping in like an overeager buffoon!

Hahahaha. He's kinda touchy with me.

But really, it makes no commercial sense for a business to employ clauses unless they have commercial objectives.

All firms that were regulated by the FSA are now regulated by the FCA.

Trade on MT4 on your Mac

We know that many traders would like to access MT4 from their Macs. Now you can easily install MT4 on the OS X operating system from your Mac computer.

Even though MetaTrader 4 is a native Windows application, with the help of an emulator, you can easily install MT4 on a computer running OS X. To do that, you need to install an app called PlayOnMac that will create a virtual environment for the platform. MT4 will then run within that environment and you can trade the same way you would on a PC.

I'm sorry to hear you had problems with your MT5 platform. We are aware of an issue that effected a small number of our trading accounts yesterday. I have been informed that this was subsequently addressed.

If any of your live trades were effected, please email me the details of those trades and your account details at [email protected] . I will have this investigated for you.

In the future, if you have any difficulties, it's best to contact the Alpari Client Services team immediately. They are available from 7am to 10pm (UK Time), Monday to Friday.

It's just happened again for 2 1/2 minutes and then for 9 minutes immediately afterwards. I do of course call your client services team when it happens and they just tell me it is a technical problem they are aware of and they are trying to solve it. Not good enough in my opinion - A technical problem that occurred on Tuesday has not been solved by Friday?

I have had a small account with Alpari for several years and just opened a larger one (funds-wise) using the MT5 platform. However, I can't trade with a broker that cannot provide a stable price feed so I will have to close them both down.


EDIT: Came back on for 2 minutes and down again for 5 minutes as I write. So that's off for 2 1/2 minutes, on for 2 minutes, off for 9 minutes, back on for a couple of minutes and off again for 5 minutes and counting. Do Alpari really think their clients will accept this shoddy service?

Also, it is of no use to me to tell me to contact Alpari if any of my trades have been affected. You aren't going to compensate me for trades I could not open because your price feed was down, are you? (11 minutes and counting now...still down)

"Affected a small number of accounts". That's exactly the same phrase they always use in the standard emails I get from client services. Is it corporate policy to only ever concede that a problem affects a small number of clients? And is it somehow meant to make me feel better? Don't treat your clients with such contempt; some of us don't like it.
